@jeylm The error shown on the log may be related to the problem. Check if you see it on a constant basis.
Also check opera://media-internals/ while playing the video.

@jeylm There is no need to post opera://media-internals/ here but if you gonna do that please use the proper function on that page to copy the useful information otherwise you will be only flooding the topic.

@jeylm I was talking about the opera: //media-internals page. Use the option to copy to clipboard and paste that into here.

In settings, check "show advanced settings", search for "hardware" and disable hardware acceleration.

                        @jeylm jeylm is that Radeon 4600 card for a 32 bit or 64 bit win 10 ? !..

if so - The last operating system supported using the AMD drivers was Microsoft Windows 8 with the AMD Catalyst 13.1 driver package.. - Driver Supported for AMD Radeon HD 4000, HD 3000, HD 2000 and older Series..

the good news is - Win 10 is only available via Windows Update. Please enable Windows Update to allow it to automatically detect and install display driver version 8.970.100.9001

bad news is - ATI Radeon HD Series 4600 latest driver is broken on Windows 10 at least as far back to November 28, 2017.. Not unless they fixed it lately..

@nvmjustagirl its 64bit, exactly with the same driver (WU provided ) which you mention. anyway, the videos are broken just since update to opera 51. in MS edge and firefox 59 i have no issues.

@jeylm Good to hear ya got the right driver..

one other thing about that driver..

Once updated with that driver multiple displays don't work, and the correct screen resolution is not available..

Does it show the correct screen resolution or is it not available..

If it is not available..their is a workaround.. *just say 'n..

@nvmjustagirl Hi, disabling hardware acceleration fixed video playback (with cost to cpu utilization of course)

@leocg any idea if some support of GPUs was dropped since 51? nothing mentioned in release notes

@jeylm No idea, try checking in Chromium site.

Also check if your graphic card drivers are up to date.

Just for testing, you can try a few things.

                                  • Re-enable Hardware acceleration.

                                  • Enable opera://flags/#ignore-gpu-blacklist

                                  • Modify Opera's shortcut to pass --disable-gpu-sandbox to launcher.exe.

https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/gpu/+/master/config/software_rendering_list.json#657 gave me the idea for the 3rd one. If it does work though, it's probably not safe to really browse the web, so it's not really a solution.

@loopy1945 I have the exact same problem with the latest Opera version on Win7, GeForce GTX 980. Chrome is doing it's job properly, but with Opera it freezes on video pages and overall, in my subjective opinion, whole browser doesn't run as fast as before.

@jeylm This might help your older card try it if ya wanna.. if ya do lemme know if it helps..

most videos on youtube are encoded with VP9/VP8 codec, That means older GPUs can't decode VP8 or VP9 at all.. unless your video card supports it..

This extension will make YouTube stream H.264 videos instead of VP8/VP9 videos.. Extension is called - H264ify - found here

But ya will need to install this chrome extension to Opera 1st called - Install Chrome Extensions - found here

@jeylm Also in your opera://gpu thingy ya posted i see this is disabled - CheckerImaging: Disabled..

to enable this go to opera flags and enable this - AsyncImageDecoding

Enables asynchronous decoding of images from raster for web content – Mac, Windows, Linux
