It happens sometimes to me.
The way I use to fix it is installing the offline installer on top of the current installation.Opera.com - Computer browsers.

The main download links and the updater might not point to it yet, but there's another build out 49.0.2725.56.

Something wrong with the newer ones?

@burnout426 It wouldn't update... I checked everything... it wasn't the firewall... So, I un-installed it and downloaded a different version from the Official Opera website...

Hmm, Downloading ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/49.0.2725.56/win/Opera_49.0.2725.56_Setup_x64.exe launching it, clicking "options", making sure the install path is where your existing Opera is at should have worked fine.

@burnout426 First it was in C:\Program Files\Opera , now it's located in C:\Program Files (x86)

Hmm, wonder if the installer you used installed the 32-bit version of Opera on you.

Hmm, looks like the 64-bit version, so that's good. You could delete the install folder and run the installer to install it back to "\Program Files\Opera" instead if you want. You'd do it just so it's in the right place. It'll work fine in the x86 folder.

Of course, that's an older version than you had in your original post.

Here's who else would explain why the update patch 49.0.2725.43 was released on 08.12.2017 and the release of Opera 49.0.2725.47 was released two weeks earlier than 11/23/2017, what kind of nonsense?

Sometimes there are network issues, in that case they will usually clear up later. If it happens all the time, it is likely to be a firewall blocking the update check.
Didn't know about that, next time I'll face the problem I'll wait for a while repeating the autoupdate launching to determine whether about the net or an installation problem.
Thanks.

This has been happening to me since 46. There is no "sometimes", it is all the time.
I manually update when my virus scanner tells me that it is out of date. That way I am not manually updating every other day for the minor updates.But I shouldn't have to do it that way!
I should be able to click "about Opera" and get updated.
