Hi!
Today we released the first beta Opera Mini version 20. In this version, we focused on Downloads.
In the new Downloads UI, you can see ongoing download speed and more options available for each download item. We have supported background downloading now in this version. Once you start a download in Opera Mini, it will complete in background even after closing Opera Mini.
You might also notice that we have extended the address bar suggestions. Copy link and your search history suggestions are available besides the suggested sites.
As always, thank you for being a part of our beta testing. Let us know what you think of the new build. You can get the Opera Mini for Android beta here: http://opr.as/e1x

No downloading from youtube.
Does Youtube ever had a download option? I don't remember have seen a native one.
Then how uc mini and other browsers offer to download a video from youtube?

UC Browser and other browsers who have that feature added it themselves. Downloading YouTube videos(Music or TV Shows or Movies) is against the TOS of YouTube and can get your account banned. It would be nice if Opera had the feature, but Opera is focusing on User Experience at the moment so Opera feels smooth.

Getting Good, This version of Opera Mini shows the remaining time to download, But
If I download multiple files at a time then its not showing (individually) how much time it need to finish the download per downloading files. All that it shows is the total time of all downloading files. I think if it shows individual remaining time (per files) then its good.
By the way, there has more options at the in built download manager but still I'm not impressed at all. Still the downloading speed is too slow as usual as previous version of Opera Mini.
If you use a Download Manager app (like ADM Pro, ADA+, TDM, LoaderDroid) then you see all download manager downloads files from internet by Multiple Thread Connection. I search over internet & got that the Multi Connection feature is really helpful for Faster Downloading. It can boost the downloading speed. UC Browser has this feature but Opera Mini hasn't yet. Hope that, the developer team will consider & take necessary steps to implement this awesome feature to speed up the Opera Mini's file downloading system.
Well, this new version is Ok. But missing the separated search bar. I can search directly using other language in the separated search bar. But can't able to search using other language via address bar.
Opera Mini shows progress at the downloading feature but I've to say, Still its too poor to use compared to UC Browser's downloading system.
But I hope (Actually I'm trying) to hope that, maybe Opera Mini developers will try to improve the downloading feature at their level best. -

@miyukiwork Is it for the "text wrapping" feature possible to see it working like it does in Opera for Android, or is it a Webview limitation? That is the only major thing missing from Mini, the only real negative that bothers me immensely.

Opera Mini 20, really???
Bwahaha, nothing significantly different to Mini 19 (or even 18) and still on the 2254 codebase. A few new doodah thingeys around the Google search field are not very exciting.
Opera seems to suffer a bad case of versionitis, like most other browsers. Plus permission abuse, news forcefeeds, permanent Google search engine, spammed speed dials and paid search suggestions.
This does not build trust in Opera's plans for Mini's future. With more WiFi, cheaper data plans and faster smartphones Mini needs more strong points to stay ahead than just speed and data savings. More focus on user privacy and sovereignity rather than fiddling the UI maybe?
Sorry for the rant, there's still hope for the next beta.

@xirit32 Yes it's a WebView limitation, so text wrapping is not supported unfortunately.

Downloading isn't the feature I long for. I want to play videos of youtube in extreme option. Moving extreme to high mode is rough for me. I like the way opera mini works I am great fan of its smoothness that is the reason I cann't live without opera mini. I tell you how I face problem switching extreme to high mode, In one tab I am using facebook in extreme now I want to play a video from youtube I have to go in high mode . I ve also notice that high mode is not enough smooth as extreme mode.
Opera mini is made for extreme mode not for high mode. -

Thanks miyuki for clearing that out. Although sad and somehow already expected I appreciate the response. Its good to know things from first hand

facebook issues still occurs. when you tap the fb logo in the start page it'll directed you to the facebook page. but error occurs. it said 'TOO MANY REDIRECTS'
Found this bug(perhaps) since the previous version.
Youtube playback error. sometimes it works if Video Boost turned off.
and
i don't know is it my connection or what, if i'm on 2G, the Extreme Mode is very slow. didn't happened before this. before this 2G and Extreme Mode is extremely helpul if i'm reached my data limit.
that's all. thank you. -

It is strange that the beta exists alongside the previous non-beta.
usually, like whatsapp, a beta installation will replace the previous non-beta installation.
more, the opera beta will not import those saved pages and the speed dials from a previous non-beta installation.
quite inconvenient!
please consider any modifications, thankyou.

There's no option to play vidoes after download any video via Other media player. If I download a video & open it from opera mini's download manager Opera Mini plays it by its default poor video player. Where all the videos is not resize (fit to screen) as my screen. Pretty annoying.
Also If I download multiple files at a time then its not showing (individually) how much time it need to finish the download per downloading files. All that it shows is the total time of all downloading files.
& the built in download manager needs much improvements for speed.
I'm waiting for the next beta release. Maybe all of those issues will fixed in the next beta. -

it can't resume download after link fail. in uc browser, immediately u go back to the link to download, the failed download will resume
