New Opera developer 40

I spent three hours trying to get Opera to stop crashing after the auto-update to 2288. I finally had to rollback to 2280 and pin it. My guess is that it is the LastPass extension, but after three hours of lost time, I have to get back to my REAL job...

Apologies for what you've gone through. However, could you please try 2288 with a clean profile and see if it still crashes for you? Of course, back up your primary profile first. Thanks in advance.

New build - Opera developer 40.0.2296.0, the change log, and the announcement
"As we approach midsummer in this area, we would like to offer a developer update which includes one feature that was frequently asked for. You may now realize it is…
The RSS Reader
The work on personal news is continued. This build comes with another set of changes and improvements. As an important addition, we also bring the first version of RSS support!
Even though the functionality is very limited at the moment, you can already take it for a spin. Just click on +Add sources button and paste URL into search field (for instance: https://www.nasa.gov/rss/dyn/breaking_news.rss). Once recognized as valid source, you can add it (in case it doesn’t work for you, please post the URL in comments).
Custom RSS can be read in both: timeline, and stacked view. However, the estimated reading time is not available for those sources.
The feature is pretty rough on the edges. But hey, this is what developer is for. We know there are the following issues, and they will get addressed in upcoming updates:
- Missing “Remove from my sources” button but there’s a workaround: Go to +Add sources paste the same URL and untick it.
- When combined with other sources, article age is not taken properly into account and timeline gets messed up.
- URL is displayed instead of RSS title (header and sidebar).
Please let us know, what you think.
Chromecast
Maybe not as much expected as the RSS feature, but still very important – today, we are also offering Chromecast finally working in this developer version. Specifically, when you install the Google Cast extension from the store and have the special device attached to your display and operating in the same Wi-Fi network, the device should be detected and sending links should work.
Other changes
At last! We have fixed the Windows 64bit issue and today, we are offering the experimental version.
Known issue: the opera:about page sometimes freezes the browser."
The Chromium has been updated to version 53.0.2783.2.

Same here. Even with clean profile (Win 10x64. Both opera 64 and 32 bit versions)

https://slashdot.org
http://download.cnet.com/s/software/mac

https://digg.com/
http://macresource.comas well as many others. Even though the fault is likely mine or perhaps my computer setup, suggestions would be very welcome.

New build - Opera developer 40.0.2301.0, the change log, and the announcement
Power saver redesign
Today’s Opera developer release contains major redesign of the power saver feature, including both the workflow and the user interface. The new version should be more intuitive and easier to use for both the regular users and the power users.
Regular users will get the power saving mode working automatically based on Hints’ selections. Also, they have easy access to the mode using the Battery icon placed in the toolbar.
Power users can manually change how the power saving mode works for them in the Preferences/Settings (including the possibility to disable the mode completely).
RSS reader updates
We have also fixed a number of things in our RSS reader. In particular:
– The character limit has been lifted, and now you can use very long URLs.
– The button "Remove from My Sources" is available for RSSes.
– The RSS title is shown instead of URL.
– The RSS feed is aligned correctly to the timeline.
Please let us know in the comments whether it works for you now. Any ideas are also welcome!
Chromium has been updated to 53.0.2785.8.
Known issues:
– In the RSS reader, "My sources" are not added from the setup dialog. We’re working on that.
– We have an issue with the Windows x64 release again. Sincere apologies.

My Tabs going "mad" with the new versions, first opera just crashed if you wanted to drag and drop a tab, that was loading, and create a new window.
Now if i close a tab between, that is 2 other tabs, all the tab expands to double the size and then they go back to normal after a few seconds, if you don't interact with them.

New build - Opera developer 40.0.2306.0, the change log, and the announcement
"Full holiday season, but still in Opera we have a bunch of fixes and improvements.
Another week another set of changes in personal news. This time we have both visual and under the hood changes.
– News tile can have POPULAR, or CUSTOM SOURCE badges. They will allow you to spot your RSSes inside a long feed of news. POPULAR badge will appear on tiles that are opened more often.
– Clicking source label in custom sources takes you to the source.
– Support for more RSS/Atom feeds, please report if your favourite sources don’t work.
– Added caching for custom sources to improve load times.
– Onboarding issues fixed in addition to other problems spotted on the way.
– More UI tweaks and improvements.
In the meanwhile, we have kept working on video pop out. We are listening to your feedback, and observing our friends, families, and whoever we can, to check how you like, and use that feature. Let’s summarize what’s included in the latest build.
– Video pop out button is less intrusive.
– Once video is popped out into it’s own window, there is no button to reverse the action over the original video.
– Video pop out button is not shown for short videos (shorter than 16 seconds).
– There is just one button ‘X’ to close the window.
– Closing windows doesn’t stop playback.
– Even more sites and players are supported.
– Clicking on video pauses / resumes the playback instantly."
