@Gateau Auto translate is disabled by default in Opera. Check the language settings and make sure automatic translation is turned on for the sites you visit.

@Hay-mars-01 Thanks for the clarification.

If this happens to you again, it's probably due to having Early Bird turned on in settings and having a split screen tab open while closing Opera (or while disabling Early Bird and then closing Opera).

Ok, so I found my speed dial bookmarks. I don't use the browser's "Bookmarks" page, I have an extension that I prefer to use, but with it currently gone I found that bookmarks also lists the speed dial.

Now, my speed dial bookmarks all got moved to a folder named after my PC. Because this happened twice, I have two folders.

Not only were they being moved and the default "sponsored" bookmarks put in their place, but the setting to show "suggestions" was enabled, twice.

Very weird. 🙂

@Just-be-Jake I'm experiencing the same exact issue as well on Arch Linux with Bitwarden. Chromium and Firefox both work without issue though, so it's Opera specific.

@Stvrs i reinstalled it and worked fine for some time and happened again. Then i cleared browsing data and worked fine for a short time and started to happenning again.

I don't know what developers have changed in Opera in recent months, but this situation is causing significant slowdowns in my workflow.

It seems the R3 update is causing serious issues. Try restarting in Safe Mode, rolling back the update, or updating your drivers. If possible, restart Windows Explorer via Task Manager to restore your cursor and taskbar. This usually fixes the problem.

@CPE420 my guess is Opera is continuously trying to keep out youtube ads. YT is continuously trying to put ads in Opera. I think every day both are trying to fence off each others technical strategies. When the fight is fierce we get these issues. I prefer to have these annoyances over the mind-damaging effects of the youtube ads.
