With Mini, I have my doubts. The functionality is split between the client and server, and so likely won't be easily adapted. It's not like making a new port of WebKit. On the other hand, if you had the Mini client/server source and nothing else, it would be easier than starting from scratch.

But this is all theoretical because the Mini code is proprietary and secret. 🤷♂

Incidentally, I was rather happy when Opera abandoned Presto for desktop. For me, it seemed to crash a lot.

In data saving mode, the traffics routed through a proxy server for compression. It is likely that the web site will be able to know your actual IP address through javascript etc. For more anonymous usage, you should consider the OS level VPN.

If you want to confirm the actual IP address seen by the server, you can hit https://www.ip2location.com and see the results. If you see Opera organization, then you are behind the data saving mode in Opera Mini.

@conceptpuppet using the direct download apk I haven't noticed any ads but the restart popup button persists to push the play store version upgrade.
