  Even now (opera 37) or then I'm unable to reproduce this issue on a Chinese Tablet running Android 4.4 (I think 4.4.4 is still in first dev tier). At first run (session) Opera browser may have more than 300MB in cached processes on heavy load and after recalculation up to 270MB for 9 open tabs (max cache when Opera Turbo is on). Running low Opera consume 100MB cached and 10 MB from real RAM (as per 1GB RAM) so Opera browser may work properly on devices with 400MB free RAM + @300MB fee USB storage and minimal requirement must be 150MB free RAM (at least 20MB for Google processes + other stuff).

  Add: Starting with Opera 29 Appboy profiler will replace Opera Mini tracker. BTW, using Appboy could be illegal in UK and other countries due to some privacy concerns. In Opera Mini this tracker is even more "exclusive". If you ask furthermore Opera will throw the TOS coin which in my book may have 2 faces.

  For example, Windows Opera browser and Android Opera. Import from PC to device (need root access on Android).

  File "Bookmarks" from the

  C:\Users...\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Developer
  copy to the replacement of the device:

  /data/data/com.opera.browser/app_opera/

  From the desktop browser to export the bookmarks file in ".html", renamed "bookmarks.xml" and copy to the replacement of the device:

  /data/data/com.opera.browser/shared_prefs/

  let's have auto resume download and page resume loading when have connection problem in any compressions modes. that was my idea about mini for Android.

  Many thanks to your advice, thehyecircus!

  After month of not being able to fix this and using all the time Chrome to download anything, today I found your solution, went into the the app permissions, turned on "Storage" and downloads are working finally like a charm from within Opera.
