I'm a user too. I think it's time to force Opera to bring back the option to remove the news feed (speed dial control). So put out bad reviews anywhere you can - start at the App Store, then go to anyplace where there are reviews and put in your negative comment about Opera. If Opera wants to keep news feeds - it MUST give us the option to turn it off, and I suggest that Opera give us the option to CUSTOMIZE news feed to OUR OWN TASTE should we wish to keep it on. And don't have it as a 'news feed' but as a App Feed. Make it useful. News feeds are NOT useful for almost everyone, because we have no control over it...it's like the old days of having only 1 TV channel (nowadays that would not fly...so why force a one channel to us now?).
Bring Back Democracy of Choice to Opera! Bring back Speed Dial. Bring us Customized News/App Feed where we can make the browser WORK FOR US.
The VPN connections seems on all the time while on 4G, even when the device has auo-locked itself, while on wifi it always has to reconnect whan waking which takes 5+ seconds. Any way to fix ?
I think that's more an iOS wifi thing. Any time an iphone locks/screen blanks, it puts wifi (mostly) to sleep - unless you're running an app that keeps it going, such as tunein radio. (It's apparently a frequently-detested "feature" to save battery life - wifi is steady drain.)
As I understand it, push notifications come in as a tiny notice via mobile data that will wake wifi up very briefly to allow the bulk of the notification through via wifi. The ones who disable mobile data are the ones who most detest it.
I guess Opera could offer a switch in the vpn app to keep wifi alive in whatever way tunein radio does it (it's the only app I regularly use that keeps wifi alive even when screen locked/blanked).
@sagowtham Firefox on iOS isn't perfect and not as user friendly as Safari (which isn't perfect either) but compared to Opera iOS it's a million times better. It's missing some useful features including more security features though, which is a real shame.
Wtf is the Opera team doing with what used to be the best iOS browser?!
I can’t live with this spam “news” shit. I’ll try Dolphin that someone wrote about. Otherwise I guess it’s back to Safari + an adblocker app. But I seriously need my browser to sync with my Mac so maybe I’ll have to abandon Opera for Mac too. Such a shame because that is an amazing damn browser.
