I have been hoping to find a solution to the "heating issue" I have with Opera and other chromium based browsers but have not seen any "hints." iCab, Safari, and Firefox do not act this way on my Macs. Do other people just let their Macs heat up and fans run full speed and live with it? I can only assume they do since both of my MacBooks react the same. If it was only one I would suspect another cause but it always seems to be when using a chromium based browser. Now that I have downloaded and installed Firefox I think I have found browser nirvanna.

Thanks for the clarification. It explains why I have an Opera Beta thats v30.0.
You would think there would have been some way to automatically upgrade from v12 for those of us who don't hang around this forum or follow the blog!

It's due to some limitations in our update system :/. Fortunately the amount of users on 10.6 using O24 is very low, so there shouldn't be too many people running into this.

I created a custom search engine (string) in Preferences invoked with a hotkey. Now from the address bar I type the hotkey plus the search terms, and the search is performed when I hit the ENTER key. I chose the hotkey 'f' . I couldn't use 'g' as that has already been taken by Opera.

Here is the search string I am using for the English (American) version of Google.

http://www.google.com/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=6XZrVfGPCtHjvAXKvoDoCg&gws_rd=ssl,cr&fg=1?q=%s&num=%i#q=%s

My work computer defaults to the Brasilian version of Google unless I use the 'f' hotkey from the address bar. If I use the 'g' hotkey I get a Brasilian Google search.

If you don't want to use Google, there are other search strings that will work. You might get them to work by right-clicking on the search bar of your chosen Search Engine and choosing "Create Search Engine..", but that didn't work correctly for me for changing versions of Google.

Opera requires PPAPI Flash. Just click the link in the 'flash player outdated' message, and it will lead you to the PPAPI version of Adobe Flash.
When I click on "Opera" from the Dock (Mac) I want it to open up my customized Yahoo Page...

Hi Bill,

Open the page(s) you would like to have opened when you start Opera (and no other pages). Then go to Opera -> Preferences, and in the section 'On startup' select 'Open a specific page or set of pages'. Then click 'Set pages...', click 'Use current pages', and click OK.

The next time you restart Opera it will start with the requested pages opened.

I narrowed down the problem by myself by now.

Somehow it was some kind of weird interaction of an extension with the updated flash plugin. Weird because click to play seemed to work with all sites but one (and especially one with lots of embedded flash videos) after the flash update.

The extension that seemed to cause it was "Site-specific Preferences". From one day to the other (exactly the day that NPAPI plugin stopped working) the Operas click to play setting for all pages was overridden by the site specific extension settings from "Ask" to "Allow". Setting back the status within the extension to "Ask" for this specific site solved the problem.

This should not happen, Opera profile is located in User Application Support directory and should be accessed the same way as before the OS upgrade.

What about other stuff like History, settings, cache?

Perhaps you created a new user after the OS upgrade?

I disable "opera://flags/#experimental-start-page", Reload menu is shown in right click menu on Speed Dial! But in case of some major website (Google, Twitter, Facebook, Wikipedia, etc) , Reload menu is gray (not able to select). So, thumbnails of these website are not able to reload. Instead, these website's icon are shown on these Speed Dials.

Right-click on the message and choose "view all headers and message". Make sure the date header value is correct. If it is, it's probably a locale issue/bug. Make sure the locale is set correctly in your OS and in Opera and restart. If nothing helps, I guess it's just a bug. Opera Mail has been discontinued, so if it is a bug, you're out of luck.
