  Okay, you guys are awesome. I turned on the HTML5 desktop notifications, installed the Chrome extension and went shopping. Notifycon didn't work, for some reason, but Facebook Notifier did, and that's mainly what I was looking for. I really didn't think it was possible to get those pinned tab notifications in Opera. Shows what I now. Thanks again.

  Because none of the code from the Presto based Opera could be migrated over to the Blink based version. They basically had to start from scratch.

  This is yet another thread that has been answered and should be closed. Sidebars are not being developed for Opera Blink (as far as we know). Those who want a sidebar should go over to the Suggestion Box and make a suggestion there. And really... that should bring this thread to a close.

  Nor do some of us understand your inability to stick with Opera 12.17. You asked a question, several times over the months, and received more or less the same answer. I fail to see what the problem is. Stick with Opera 12.17 since you personally believe that this is the best Opera browser. Why beat a dead horse in this thread? You say that you do not understand why Opera is self-destructing. It isn't. It may be in your eyes, but facts speak otherwise. You wonder aloud why it is. My suggestion is to educate yourself. Go over to the Opera blogs and read why Opera made this change as well as what the direction of the company is. There is no better way to understand what is going on than to go to the source. Asking here will only give you conflicting views and bring out defensive postures on BOTH sides of the issue.

  Moderator: isn't it time to close this thread? Hasn't it served its purpose by now?

  A safer and wiser practice is to always go directly to the original source for software, whenever possible. In the case of Presto Opera for Windows, that would be http://arc.opera.com/pub/opera/win/ .

  wow, the forum stole the underscores in the filename o_O

  A feature of Markdown, which is used on this forum. The underscores are for emphasis—why the emphasis does not display on the forum when underscores are used, I don't know. In any case, I edited your comment slightly and escaped them for you.

  P.S. As a side note, Markdown allows you to use HTML tags directly. So if you want/need emphasis you can still do it via the <i> tag. We filter out many HTML tags to prevent craziness but these are allowed through.

  Well, I'm about to blow away Opera 25. I'm sick of "the Adobe Acrobat plug-in has stopped working" - when clearly it hasn't.

  Whether I reload 12 is still to be determined. It's at best a short term fix. Vale Opera.

  Passworddata files cant be saved by backup, they are bound/encrypted related to the Windows account of Opera user used before(!).

  Sorry to say, you have to use a external password manager.
