Sorry meant to add I am now using 7 which is not all that old. * is not the kind of thing I want to use. Sorry if that offends some one. I also do not drive (or pay for) a 2015 car. Actually I drive a 1997 and can still get all the parts I need so let's not use the car analogy please.

I can not imagine anyone being serious saying Vista was better than XP. Newer is NOT better. I am new to 7 and like it. Vista sucked and cost MS a lot of customers so the put out a grown up version of XP and called it 7. How long was Vista out? less than two years. How long did XP work?

To be honest it seems most computer stuff is updated to justify the jobs of the and sales of the people selling it. I am one of the very few people I know that has been using Opera for going on 10 years and have told all the folks I deal with on forums (many thousands) how great it is. I am not as comfortable saying that now as I was 5 years ago. I LIKE Opera a lot. I do not like the newer versions.

Another example of this is I use PhotoBucket a lot because I post many pictures on the Forums. Thousands of people trust me and the way I explain things with photographs. EVERY single time PB has been "
improved" it has gotten harder to use but that have to "improve" it to keep selling it to their advertisers not to make the users happy because most are not.

So, for me, the newer is better thing may not always seem correct. It is like taking a great little car like the Honda Civic and keep "improving" it until it is crammed full of digital goo gaws the original market for the car can not afford it anymore.

Sorry for the rant but to tell me I am am dumb to like a very useful feature is kinda harsh.

We;ll I used XP all these years without problems. I used good Virus protection and Malware protection and never had an issue

This is why in my second question on this subject I asked if it is possible to just load an older reason or copy it off one machine and load it on another.

On my dead machine I had BOTH new and old Opera with a icon on my desktop to pick either one. Being the person I am I sometimes wonder why things that work have to constantly be changed. I have been very happy with Windows XP for instance. My new to me machines will have 7 on them at my request as 7 seems to be a "grown up" XP. Vista was a nightmare and 8 is for touch screens and app driven stuff that I do not care for.

Again, not trying to be a troll or stir the pot as I very much like Opera but some times it seems updates are two steps forward and one step back and good things are lost in the change.

It is just what I have on and old Computer. My good computer was killed by lightning two weeks ago and I am just trying to get through as two friends are sending me better machines. I am disabled so money is short and they were kind enough to give me good but not state of the art desk tops and probably a laptop.

The point here is I have been a moderator on a forum for 8 years and when someone posts a too large picture I have to scroll back and forth for the whole rest of that page with the new Operas. The older ones have a feature under "View" that says "Fit to Screen" and all I have to do is click that and it automatically resizes everything. I do not want to be a troll or stir up any trouble but the older ones work better for me.

I am open to other options. For some reason 12.17 seems popular but I do not know when this feature disappeared. I know when running the old ones every day it asks me if I want to update but that is a minor inconvenience compared to all the scrolling on the site I moderate.

I asked a question here on making the newer versions do the same thing but I never saw it again. I may have to see how to search here. I have been using Opera for many years but this is only my third post in the forums.

Back around Opera 12 or so there was a very handy option in the pull down menu called "Fit to Screen"

I Moderate one forum and am a member on a number more and if someone posts a big picture I am force to scroll back and forth and sometimes it is a big pain because if one piture is too large than that 15 entries on that page make you scroll back and forth

In the old Opera I was able to just click on Fit to Screen and no more scrolling. Is there any way to do that with the newer versions?

Like many computer programs it seems that sometimes upgrades make things worse not better.
