  Opera crashes when logged in/syncing regardless of system

  Never mind, it's started happening again after resetting preferences. I did some digging and it seems the "premium extensions" (things like the Amazon Assistant promotion) are the source of the crashes. Deleting the key ui.premium_extensions from the Preferences file allows the browser to start correctly, but it will recreate that key on startup so it'll crash the next time.

  This is what the key looks like in my preferences:

  Both extension ids are related to the Amazon Assistant popups on Speed Dial and when visiting amazon.com.

  I assume resetting my settings only worked temporarily because Opera pulls premium extensions from the servers periodically; I didn't get the Amazon promotion until a few hours ago and that's when Opera stopped working.

  Oh. I do, now that you mention it. It's a search icon. It didn't occur to me that it would search tabs. I guess I must have assumed that it was for, like, Google search.

  @leocg I found out that the SaveFrom's extension caused that problem. Already disabled it and thereby solved my problem. Anyway, thanks for the hint

  @puneet i did try everything you said (except for disabling proxy because I don't know what that is lol) and it still doesn't work 😕 .But I have a bigger problem know and I think it might be causing the problems with Opera. My internet provider e mail me (yes I've checked it's not a fake) and they said that i have some type of malware called "gootkit". To be honest I don't know anything about PC stuff like viruses or malware, I just watch Netflix sometimes and surf the web on my laptop like a normie. Could this gootkit thing be causing my problems? Also, do I need to remove this gootkit thing and if so, how do I remove it? I'm really scared because my internet provider also told me to change my passwords, so it's seems like it's at least a bit harmful. Pls help me, I just want to use my laptop normal again (normal means without this stupid edge thing)
