@artemisian007 Hiding the search field is easy. Search for the Start Page section, both are there.
"Close tab" available all the time !!!

hi Guys,
I found it finally - it was YouTube Downloader (UDL Helper) extension well hidden...
I disabled it and now everything is back to the normal usage <20% cpu even with several tabs open,

Are you using Opera Sync?

Does it have in a test standalone installation of Opera One? If so, temporarily create a new user account on Windows (local one not tied to a Microsoft account), log into it and test Opera there? Does Opera do that there too?

@zaapa1 Due to some changes in Chrome Store, installation of extensions from there stopped working.

A fix was already released, but since there are no more updates for Windows 8.1, you won't be able to get it.

As far as I know, Opera's VPN lets you pick a country for your internet connection, but you have to choose it yourself every time.

@spikenard Sorry about that. Assume you knew that would happen. I should have explicitly mentioned that you'd lose all opened windows and tabs and the recently-closed tabs list would be cleared.
