Partner Speed Dials will preset images for all the pages of similar domain (e.g. twitter.com is a partner entry, if you add twitter.com/user it'll use the partner logo instead of thumbnail), there's no option or fix for that as of now. Unless you customize manually.
Stash is an alternative, but it has a very different usage pattern.

I see. The deal is that i prefer opera so even houswife or kid can use it easily. Okay we will wait till they implement this feature. Maybe. 🙂

On one of the older Opera's you used to be able to group multiple tab together to basically create one tab... What happened to that feature? Has it been removed? If not how do you enable it?

There is a Chrome extension you can use in Opera called One Tab, which saves memory, and reduces tab clutter. It may be a good replacement for you, for what you had in older Opera.

First, move "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera Mail" and "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Opera Mail" to the same spot on Windows 8.

Then, download the Opera Mail installer, launch it, click "options", make sure "install path" is set to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera Mail", make sure "install for" is set to "All Users" and install.

If you're using mail in the Opera suite (Opera 12 for example), the folders mentioned above will all be "Opera" instead of "Opera Mail".

If you installed Opera Mail or Opera to a different program files folder name, the folders won't be "Opera" or "Opera Mail". They'll be the name of that program files folder.

If Opera or Opera Mail on Win7 was installed using the "Standalone Installation (USB)" option, everything is all in one folder and you just move that to Win8 where you want.

The history file size will depend on the setting you make in Ctrl+F12 > Advanced > History > Addresses > > and also whether you "Clear" it periodically. If "Addresses" are set to 0 (or "Clear" is exercised), the > file size will go to zero. Once the file contents hits the setting limit, the file will dump old > > > > > material as new is added. Something similar exists under the disk cache settings for page content, > > > > although the cache data can be scattered across multiple cache files.

I'm trying to use the quote syntax here so if this looks weird that's why. To the above, I just figured that out when I inspected the global_history file using notepad and figured that would be the case. I likely have it set to an extremely high level or infinite (i.e 9999 days).

I opened the auto-save WIN file that I discovered exists for the session I just lost and with notepad thankfully I can read the text since its in UTF-8 encoding. Its very straight-forward so pretty much everything there can be saved but its just non-organizable history to June 29. Its at least something because every time I have a non-prompt recovery its awful having to re-create the session manually and if there is no history, its even worse.

Now with the important global_history DAT file, I opened it in notepad also and can read most of it in plain text which is a huge relief as I can easily figure out what's there and what isn't even in raw sector data when I look using recovery software. I can confirm that only what is shown in Opera 12 is in the file itself without any extra damaged or otherwise history. Don't know what this means recovery wise but I'll find out now.

So no one has encountered this history deleting crash before?
Step up from Opera 12 (Win7) to Opera 22 (Win8.1) problems...

I would say that it's around 95% cases that when I leave opera open I cannot recover it from sleep. Occasionaly, I managed to do it properly when opera is up, but, like I said it's 5 out of 100.

My problem lasts for some time now, but my patientce reached the limit. What is strange, that I have another pc, on which I have windows xp installed and I cannot reproduce the same issue there.

Indeed, I have already tried messing with USB power, but without a luck. My guess is that this has something to do with my AMD video card.

Panels? Opera 22 doesn't have panels ... oh, you mean shortcuts for Speed dial. Difficult, since you can have a lot more than 9 speed dials.

Yep, clear cookies and cache would be one of the first things to try.

Oh, and just for a FYI, make sure you delete both versions of the cookies that the site has set. Usually one preceded by a www. and one without.

E.G www.sitetest.com and sitetest.com.

Unfortunately, something has caused this page to quit. It might have been an extensions conflict or some other reason."

Do you use any extension? If so try disabling all of them to see if the problem goes away. If so, re-enabled the extensions one at a time to try to find which one is causing the issue.
