Well, I'd be happy to swap issues with you, because I DO have the "delay loading of background tabs" selected, but they all load, which is NOT what I want at all, as it slows down opening & closing Opera, and runs up my RAM & CPU Usage big time! Maybe the key is to select the opposite of what we want in the preferences, maybe if I not select it, the background tabs won't open, and vice versa. But it is quite odd that we are both experiencing Opera not doing what we've selected, really odd...

RE: Version:70.0.3728.178 -Slow since latest updateOpera for Mac
@leocg Do you honestly think this kind of response is rational, or even respectful of those posting here? When carmakers do a recall, because a flaw in one system may cause fatal occurrences, it is Never about "all" or "most" of the cars being deathtraps, so denying bugs exist in Opera because it doesn't show itself in your computer, or the developers, is like being one of the blind men and the elephant. It doesn't affect me, so it must not be affecting everyone... You don't think it's at all reasonable to believe that if all other browsers work normally, but Opera, in a good number of cases, & you know only a tiny percentage of people take the time and effort to post in this forum (which is not known as a very realistic pathway to foment positive changes, but only to vent, or find workarounds. You can count on thousands of others simply throwing up their hands and moving off Opera, back to a more reliable browser. To make extrapolations based on the number of those complaining here is quite unscientific...

Is there any way to customize the toolbar?Suggestions and feature requests
It would be nice if there was an icon in the toolbar we can easily use to zoom in or out, and if the gauge that shows the percentage was onscreen longer than two seconds, when we hit the zoom in or out option in the drop-down window . Why can't this be in the toolbar, as it is in all other browsers?

What is HLS, and why does't Opera support video streamed, using it?Opera for Mac
I get this same notice when trying to play videos on some of the major network sites ABC, CBS, etc. which work fine with other browsers, so why can't Opera play them?

RE: Is there any way to customize the toolbar?Suggestions and feature requests
@leocg I see it once I reduce or enlarge the page, so I don't know why they don't just have it there all the time? What's the point of it, if you still have use the View menu first? It makes no sense this way, plus, when I click on the icon, the window that opens disappears in about a second or two, usually before I can even click on up or down! Plus, even with the icon, it still involves an extra step no other browser requires. I'm so used to having a zoom in or out icon in the toolbar, that having to first open another menu is just wasted added actions...
But thanks for letting me know about the little icon..

RE: How can I change saved Passwords?Opera for Mac
@leocg That doesn't work! I can't log in to the site, nor can I change my password in Opera's saved passwords, which is ridiculous! Why can't we manually change it? When I put in the right one on the site, Opera keeps reverting it to the one it has saved, which is not the correct one! And while it shows the site, there's also an Opera window saying the site can't be accessed! Or at least it's half an Opera window, as it's cut in half!
Opera is lately driving me crazy with how many websites it just won't work with, sometimes it's the VPN feature that prevents it from functioning, but others, it's Opera itself, especially video streaming sites, like HULU, and some major network stations. Why is it so incompatible with so many sites???

RE: Is there any way to customize the toolbar?Suggestions and feature requests
@NewWorldMan Yeah, I see that, but it's a race of reflexes to get to the numbers to try and make the zoom more or less!!

@leocg So, ignore my issue completely because one sentence was capitalized? Good grief...

Why does Opera open every tab upon opening?Opera for Mac
Every time I open Opera, I must sit and wait five or ten minutes, as it slowly opens all previously open tabs, in every window. This not only takes forever, but uses up nearly eleven Gigs of RAM!! This is so absurd a way of doing things, that I cannot believe the developers continue this ridiculous protocol! Why don't they fix this, as it definitely is a huge drawback to my using Opera, despite liking many other aspects of the browser?

RE: Why does Opera open every tab upon opening?Opera for Mac
@leocg You've obviously missed my point. Yes, I know all about those options. However, not all browsers choose to open every tab, but for the top one in each window, upon relaunching, thus saving many Gigs of RAM, and allowing the user to decide if and when to open any of those tabs. So my question is why doesn't Opera go this time & energy-saving route, instead of the pointless one of having to open every single one?

RE: Opera Not Responding & Using 100% of my CPU!Opera for Mac
Well, three months later, and a new update, so I tried again, this time with Version 73. It opened nicely but within two or three minutes it froze, Activity Monitor showed once again, it "was not responding" and had run up 100% of my CPU. What is the deal? Why can't Opera work? I'm on an iMac with 64 Gigs of RAM, running 10.14.6, and Opera will not work at all!

RE: Crashing on launchOpera for Mac
I'm still on Mojave, tried to use the latest update of Opera, a few windows opened, all Opera ones, then within a couple minutes it all froze, ran up 100% of CPU usage, and I had to force quit it to close. This has what I've been dealing with for the past few upgraded versions. No matter what I do, I can't get it to just work! No problems like this with any other browser I use, just Opera. So frustrating, as I would like to use it, but it's become completely dsyfunctional.

RE: Version:70.0.3728.178 -Slow since latest updateOpera for Mac
@operaoperandi I haven't, and I don't recall seeing anyone saying "It must affect all Opera users", so your response is both unhelpful, and complete hyperbole. What's the use of a user forum, if everyone is simply told, their problem has nothing to do with Opera, and has to be due to something they're doing wrong?
And no, people who have problems don't all come here and post, so because you may only see a few with the same issue, that in no way means it's not widespread, only that a few still bother to come here and post. There's plenty other sites around that will help people with issues about any browser, & I've often found better assistance just asking my question as a search, than using Apple's user forum, or other specific product ones. So, there may be thousands of others with the same issues, or more likely, they've just moved on to another browser.

RE: Version:70.0.3728.178 -Slow since latest updateOpera for Mac
Tried opening it one more time, with nothing really open, I couldn't get it to work for even five minutes, before it became non-responsive again. I've never had a browser perform this pathetically in 30 years of using computers.... Do the developers really not see something isn't working?

RE: Version:70.0.3728.178 -Slow since latest updateOpera for Mac
I just downloaded the newest version, after the Opera website gave me the Windows version when I first tried to download the update! A precursor of things to come...
Open it up, and it has saved none of my top sites, none of my passwords, and when I tried to sync it, it just sat spinning, then become nonresponsive, ao I had to force quit it. When it opened back, my entire message I was going to post here, and the page itself, had vanished! So I'm doing this now on Safari, because the nest two times I've tried just opening Opera it froze up, even freezing up my whole computer for awhile, until I could finally access the Force Quit menu, and closed that mess down. What is wrong with Opera? Whether I have it on my iMac, using Mojave OS, or my Macbook Pro, using High Sierra, it has not worked worth a damn, for the last several updates, and seems to meltdown quicker & quicker with each one. I get my hopes up, as all the new features and stuff sound great, but then it just doesn't work. Pages are slow or don't open at all, and that Sync, what a hot mess that is, it has never worked as it should, constantly freezing up. I keep trying each new update, and keep being so very, very disappointed. And that fact that not everyone has these kinds of problems, doesn't mean there's not something buggy with it, as many people are also complaining about these kinds of issues. I'm not sure there's any product that is 100% lousy, but it doesn't take 100% failure to judge something inferior.... sorry.

Same problems as everyone. It feels like I'm back on a dial-up connection! It's ridiculously slow.. I don't know how they can release an "update" so awful.... smh.

Opera Not Responding & Using 100% of my CPU!Opera for Mac
WTF? I gave up on Opera a few months ago, and decided, since there's been a couple updates already, and this is the newest one, that maybe it will actually work. Well, downloaded and installed it. And sure enough before I can even do anything, it's "not responding" and using 100% of my CPU.... what is the trick to having this browser actually install itself and work??

RE: Opera crashes on launch every timeOpera for Mac
I had this same problem, on both my computers, and nothing I did fixed it. Somehow, after totally removing & reinstalling it (after a few tries), it now is working OK, it could be the most recent update fixed something. So it seems to. be working, without instantly freezing, and running up all my RAM, the only issue now, is that I can't stream without it buffering and buffering.

RE: Where are my bookmarks? Why aren't they already showing? .Opera for Mac
@SilentHugOfDoom Also, how can I remove or change the order of folders shown in the bookmarks bar? I tried sliding them there, but it's forcing them in the opposite order I want them in the bar. I don't know if I move it to the trash, if only the icon in the bar goes, or if all the bookmarks in that folder, I wish there were clearer directions, as this is not the most intuitive process, also why can we still not "customize the toolbar", as we can with every other browser?
