@leocg The question was not to remove the language but to remove a single word. And that problem still exists.
Anyway, Opera uses the macOS spell checker so the user defined dictionaries are in ~/Library/Spelling.

@sgunhouse That is too obscure. Even with your hint I struggle to find it. The should be a “don't show this again” right on the box.
@leocg I use “70.0.3728.178” — but to be honest the problem exist on computer for ever a year. While Opera on another computer can access Telegram just fine.
Note that the logout button doesn't work as well. Maybe a “reset” option for sidebars panels would be helpfull.
@hadebisi1 I have the problem for a year now on one computer. While it word on another computer. Came here to find a fix to get that one computer up and running again.
@okusta And same here.
@leocg Yes, disable/enable didn't work. I tried login/logout but even the logout fails.
Up until now I used the normal (not slim) sidebar. I don't like the vertical dots and on a 27" iMac and don't need save every pixel. So I much preferred the slightly larger sidebar. But to my dismay that option disappeared. Or is there still an option hidden somewhere to have the non slim sidebar.

Opera with the switch "--user-data-dir="/path/to-fresh-profile", and see if this even fixes the signing in issue.
I have both stable and beta opera. And now that the stable Opera has recovered I can confirm that sync with stable is up and running. I tried the --user-data-dir=
option as well and could not log in.
(Having created another 2 dozen duplicates outside the speed dial.
I moved some bookmarks into folder and now I have then twice: Inside the folder and in the original location. Another case of delete and move not synchronising correctly. Is adding a universal id to every entry to reliably detect move and delete that difficult?)
I'm still reluctant to reset because I fear I might loose sync entirely not being able to use my current opera account to create new sync data.
@leocg said in Sync by userid not working any more.:
As far as I know, its a deliberated change.
I guessed that much. But that only changes the bug too: Migration to new sync is buggy. It's still a bug.
In Opera for Android you still can use your user id.
You can enter a user id but the sync is rejected when you click login.
My stable Opera has recovered and sync is still working on that installation. I suspect that I loose sync on any device needing a fresh login.
This windows fix worked for me on macOS as well.
My Opera installation fixed itself after about three hours. Note that I didn't actually open any window. Even closed the application. Just let Opera do its thing in the background.

reset the synced data
Delete the data? Not my most favourite course of action. Sounds like a sure way to get syntonisations conflicts as soon as I log in on the 2nd device.
I have been deleting duplicates all over the place in the last two month or so. The prospect of even more duplicates doesn't make me happy.
Also: I didn't forget my passphrase so is that really the correct course of action?
Today, after a long time, I had to start the beta version on the desktop because the stable version is »"Not Responding" at Start-Up!«
Of course the sync session expired so I tried to log in again and then I noted that »Sync by userid not working any more.«
Immediately I checked sync on the mobile. And to no surprise that didn't work either. Unlike the desktop I can still enter a user id but the login fails nevertheless.
PS: I sent bug report as well
I'm a long term user who still has a sync account with userid — but I can't enter a userid any more. I tried the email from my account but that didn't work either. Any ideas what I can do?
Currently running beta version 68.0.3618.5 — As the stable version is »"Not Responding" at Start-Up!«
I also tested sync on the mobile device and that didn't work either.

Funny as you say but I can't sync. I'm a long term user who still has a sync account with userid — but I can't enter a userid any more. I tried the email from my account but that didn't work either. Currently running Version:68.0.3618.5

renamed Opera Beta.app to "Bad Opera Beta.app" app (in apps dir)
So the problem already existed in the beta version but you didn't send a bug report to warn Opera about it? And now the “stable” version hangs while the beta version is fixed.
don't know why this worked .. but it did for me. whew!
In the name of all the stable users: Thank you! Well done!
PS: I just send a bug report.

Use opera:about/
Well, just did and update and now it's “Version:67.0.3575.79”. But still hangs.
Also noted a change in the sync. I wonder if it's releated.
Same here. Currently using opera beta as the standard one has become unusable.
Trying to reach a local site and Opera keeps changing the http address to https. But the local, which is not on the internet, doesn't support https. How can I stop Opera from change the protocol.
Preferably forever. Im an advanced user. I don't need those nanny functions.
Since people like to ask it: The domain is .local
. Honestly, who changes .local
addresses?
