Check your Opera Settings. There's a new default enabled line - "Allow Acceptable Adds," which you must turn off.

It's a hidden, built-in, component extension and it's enabled by default. You just click on a pdf and it'll open in Opera in a tab using the viewer.

Goto the URL opera://settings/content/pdfDocuments though and make sure "Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Opera" is disabled.
