If you still have problems, try all of the above with a standalone installation.

RE: How to set up multiple profiles in Opera ?!Opera for Windows
In the Opera program files directory, right-click on launcher.exe to create a new shortcut and place it on your desktop. Then, on the desktop, rename it what you want. Then, right-click on the shortcut, goto properties and then the "shortcut" tab. On that tab, modify the target to add the --user-data-dir command-line switch.
For example:
"C:\Program Files (X86)\Opera\launcher.exe" "--user-data-dir=C:\Users\yourusername\Opera2"
(I personally have a "My Program Files" folder in "C:\Users\myusername", so I'd use "C:\Users\myusername\My Program Files\Opera2" for example.)
You can create as many shortcuts as you want with each using a different profile folder.
See http://peter.sh/experiments/chromium-command-line-switches/#user-data-dir for more info.

RE: Custom Animated WallpaperOpera for Windows
You can goto https://addons.opera.com/en/wallpapers/?tag=animated and install one of the animated wallpapers. Then, in Opera, goto the URL
opera://about
and take note of the "profile" path. Then, close Opera and look in the "themes" folder in the profile folder. You'll see the folder for the wallpaper you installed. In it, you can see how to create your own. You then just zip up your persona.ini file with the webm file and thumbnail and you 'll have your custom wallpaper.

RE: [Request]Close window when last tab is closedOpera GX
@thegoaty I get the same behavior as @leocg. When there's only one window open, you can't close the last tab. When there are multiple windows open, you can close the last tab, which closes the window. If that action cause only one window to remain, the last tab in that remaining window will switch to being unclosable. (For Opera GX, right-click the GX Corner tab and choose "move GX corner to sidebar" so the pinned GX corner tab doesn't interfere with this behavior.)
This is all intended behavior. Opera users typically don't like the last tab to close the browser. It would be nice if there was an option to control this though, but there isn't.

RE: Tab switching window (holding ctrl+tab or ctrl+shift+tab)Opera GX
Use ctrl + pageDown and ctrl + pageUp instead.
Or, goto the URL
opera://settings/keyboardShortcuts
, remove ctrl + tab from "cycle forward through tabs", ctrl + shift + tab from "cycle backward through tabs", add ctrl + tab to "Switch right through tabs" and add ctrl + shift + tab to "Switch left through tabs". -
RE: [Solved]Is there a way to save Speed Dial tiles?Opera for Windows
Speed Dial entries are stored with your bookmarks, so you can just back up your bookmarks by exporting them and Speed Dial entries will be backed up too. Goto the URL
opera://bookmarks
and use the import/export drop-down at the bottom-left of the page. -
RE: [Solved]Can't import passwordsOpera for Windows
-
Goto the URL
opera://about
and take note of the "install" path. -
Close Opera.
-
Open the Windows Task Manager and make sure there are really no Opera processes running. If there are, end task on them.
-
Close the browser you want to import from. Confirm it's closed in the task manager.
-
Open up a command prompt (Windows Key + r, type
cmd
and press enter) and type this command and press enter:"C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" --enable-features=PasswordImport
(replace
C:\Program Files\Opera
with the install path you saw inopera://about
.- When Opera starts up, goto the URL
opera://settings/importData
, pick the browser you want to import from, uncheck everything but "saved passwords", and click "import".
If the import fails and there are really passwords stored in the source browser, try disconnecting from the net before opening Opera with the command to see if it makes a difference. Importing and storing of passwords might fail if your connection is marked as public instead of private in Windows.
Now, if you want, you can do the following to import from Chrome instead of the previous way.
-
In Chrome, goto the URL
chrome://settings/passwords
. -
To the right of "Saved passwords" will be a kebab menu (3 vertical dots). Click the dots and choose to export your passwords. They'll be exported to a csv file.
-
Open Opera the same way mentioned earlier. (As in, make sure Opera is really closed and launch it in a command prompt with the command mentioned earlier.)
-
Goto the URL
opera://settings/passwords
. -
To the right of "Saved passwords", will be a kebab menu (3 vertical dots). Click the dots and choose to import passwords from the csv file you previously exported.
Then, they should show up in
opera://settings/passwords
.One you're d one importing, you can close Opera, close the command prompt and open Opera the normal way from its icon/shortcut.

RE: [Solved]Can't import passwordsOpera for Windows
To enable password importing, you need to start Opera with the
--enable-features=PasswordImport
command-line switch.For example:
"C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" --enable-features=PasswordImport
Goto the URL
opera://about
to see the "install" path to see what the path to your launcher.exe is. You can then run that command in a command prompt or modify the properties of Opera's shortcut to pass that switch to launcher.exe.Then, in Opera, you can goto the URL
opera://settings/importData
and import your passwords from Chrome. But, you need to make sure Chrome is closed when you do it.Or, if you want to import the csv file, you can then goto the URL
opera://settings/passwords
and the "import" option will be available. -
RE: Home button in OperaSuggestions and feature requests
The start page is meant to be your homepage. Each Speed Dial on the start page is meant to be a separate homepage button. The start page button on the address bar is a homepage button because the start page is your homepage.
You can install https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/home-button-at-top-right/bfejcgpdahgpmgadhgdadfiekmhgnifm to add a home button to the address bar. In its options, you can set what page it loads when you click it.

RE: Complete Export/Import From Opera To Microsoft EdgeOpera for Windows
For bookmarks, goto the URL
opera://bookmarks
and use the drop-down at the bottom-left of the page to export your bookmarks as an HTML file. Then, you should be able to import the file into Edge (the new Chromium-based Edge at least) via the 3 dots on theedge://bookmarks
page.For passwords, goto the URL
opera://settings/passwords
and click the 3 vertical dots to the right of "saved passwords" and export your passwords to a csv file. Then, you can import those passwords into Chrome using those same 3 dots if you goto the URLchrome://flags/#PasswordImport
, enable the flag and restart Chrome first. Once the passwords are in Chrome, in Edge (Chromium-based Edge), you can goto the URLedge://settings/importData
and choose to just import passwords from Chrome. Then, you can uninstall Chrome. You have to do things that way or find some tool as Edge has the regular password importing/exporting csv function disabled/blocked for some reason. -
RE: Recover lost tabsOpera for Windows
If you haven't closed Opera yet since you started Opera back up after the crash:
- Click the tab menu to the left of the minimize button near the top-right of Opera's Window. See if all your tabs are in the Recently Closed list. If so, you can choose to reopen them one by one.
If they're not there:
-
Goto the URL
opera://about
and take note of the "profile" path. -
In Windows Explorer, goto the profile folder. Right-click the "Last Session" file and open it in Notepad. Do the same with the "Last Tabs" file.
If the URLs for your tabs are not in those files, you're out of luck. If they are, do the following:
-
Select the "Last Session" and "Last Tabs" files, right-click the selection, choose "copy", right-click on your desktop and choose "paste". Then, close Opera.
-
In Opera's profile folder, delete the "Last Session", "Last Tabs", "Current Session" and "Current Tabs" files.
-
On your desktop, rename "Last Session" to "Current Session" and "Last Tabs" to "Current Tabs".
-
On your desktop, select the "Current Session" and "Current Tabs" files, right-click the selection, choose "copy", right-click inside Opera's profile folder, and choose "paste".
-
Then, you can start Opera and your tabs should be back. If not, check the tab menu and reopen them one by one.
Now, if you've already closed Opera, you're probably out of luck. But, you can open the "Last Session","Last Tabs", "Current Session" and "Current Tabs" files in Notepad anyway and see if any of them contain your URLs. If the "Last Session" and "Last Tabs" files do, you can get rid of "Current Session" and "Current Tabs" and rename "Last Session" and "Last Tabs" to "Current Session" and "Current Tabs". If "Current Session" and "Current Tabs" contain the URLs, you can copy those files to a safe place where maybe someone can make you a tool to extract the URLs out the files for you.
