RE: [Solved]How to remove the Warning message in Dev Console?Opera for Windows
Starting with Opera 97.0.4711.0, there's a "Don't warn me again" link in the warning you can click.
The setting is stored at root/devtools/synced_preferences_sync_disabled/showConsoleSecurityWarning in the "Preferences" file in the profile folder. It gets the value of false. (Well, currently, it gets the value of the string "false" instead of a bool false, but it still hides the warning message all the same.)

RE: Delete the recycle bin from bookmarks.Suggestions and feature requests
In Chromium, when you delete a bookmark, it just gives you an option to undo. For Opera, just think of it as an undo list.
@concretable said in Delete the recycle bin from bookmarks.:
because bookmarks that have been discarded will keep coming back if you do not empty it after deleting the bookmarks.
I've heard some users complain about that when it comes to default-provide speed dials at least. In that case, I don't remember if they were moved out of the trash and put back or just new copies were generated. Has this ever happened for a regular bookmark?
Anything coming out of the trash on its own, seems like a bug to me.
With that said though, in Chrome, I don't mind not having a trash view for bookmarks.

RE: [Duplicated] AlllowTab Snoozing to be disabledOpera GX
For now, you can use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/disable-automatic-tab-dis/dnhngfnfolbmhgealdpolmhimnoliiok or one of the other extensions like it. Or, you can goto the URL
opera://discards
and do it manually for the tabs you want. -

This is fixed in the latest stable build 86.0.4363.32.

I don't understand #2. "Copy" is available. Paste isn't there, but why would you need it in that case?

RE: Download button missingOpera GX
Download something again and it should reappear. Then, it should stay until you clear your downloads or until your downloads are old enough.

RE: constant updates causing passwords lostOpera for Windows
Opera and its updater don't wipe out passwords when Opera updates. If this is happening, there's something wrong and something is preventing the updater (and or Opera) from functioning properly during an update.
Your profile might be corrupted. Goto the URL
opera://about
, take note of the "profile" path, close Opera, and rename the profile folder to start all over with a fresh profile. You might need to uninstall and reinstall Opera just in case something is corrupted with Opera's program files.
The file and folder read and write permissions for the profile folder and everything in it might be messed up. Check the security of the files and folders to make sure your user has full read and write access to them. Make sure they're not set to read-only. Check Opera's install folder too.
If you're using Opera Sync, start with a new profile in Opera and don't use Opera Sync anymore. Sync can be funny, especially if you sync settings.
There could be security software on your computer that's interfering with Opera. You can add Opera's install, profile, and cache folders to the exception list of your anti-virus etc.
You might have some corrupted system files. You can check and fix them.
You can use https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/ to check the health of your hard drive. If it's bad, it could cause corruption sometimes with files and cause updates to break things.

RE: "Profile Error Occurred" - Message On Opera StartupOpera for Windows
You can try this too if you want:
-
Uninstall Opera (choose to keep your data).
-
Download the 64-bit offline installer from https://www.opera.com/download.
-
Launch the installer and click "options", set the install path "C:\Program Files\Opera", set "install for" to "all users", adjust other settings, and install.
Try using Opera like that just to see if there's any difference.
If that doesn't help, keep Opera installed like that, but create a new user account on Windows. Then, test Opera there, but don't import any settings and don't enable Opera Sync. See how things go from there. If it's a pain to log onto that Windows user account, you can create a shortcut (name it "Opera other user" or something) to "C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" on your desktop, hold down shift, right-click it and choose to run it as the other user from your main account. That way you don't have to leave the main account all the time.
Changing the install location shouldn't matter, but it'd be interesting to see if it makes a difference. Or, if it doesn't, it'd be interest to see if the problem is limited to your Windows user account.

RE: "Profile Error Occurred" - Message On Opera StartupOpera for Windows
If you get a chance, run a command prompt as administrator and execute:
chkdsk /r
Then, tell it to do the check on startup. Scan will take a long time.
Then, do a system file check.
(I'd do those just for good measure. But, I'd also do those as it worked for some Chrome users that had this problem.)
Also, if not on an SSD, defrag the disk. This worked for a Chrome user. Must have been some performance file-read issue or something.

RE: "Profile Error Occurred" - Message On Opera StartupOpera for Windows
@andrius-s If you get a chance, try moving the profile folder to a different drive and back or making a copy, deleting the original and putting the copy in its place. (I forgot. The move from one spot to another on the same drive wouldn't have actually moved the files on the disk.)

Check the status of your hard drive with CrystalDiskInfo. Make sure your hard drive is in good condition.
-
Wipe out your hard drive, install Windows fresh, and update windows.
-
Download Opera (latest version) and install it fresh. Do not restore a backed-up Opera profile, do not import anything into Opera, do not install any extensions, and do not enable Opera Sync. Also, do not install any extra security software on Windows.
Use Opera and Windows like that for a while to confirm that everything works fine (if you can reproduce in that case, that'd be interesting). Then, slowly do more things and see if you can figure out what triggers it.
It's probably a corrupted Opera profile (due to hard drive being bad or improper shutdown of Opera and or the computer, or Opera Sync) or corrupted user account on Windows or some corrupted system files on Windows (due to bad hard drive or improper shutdown).
If you found out that it's when you sync, you'll need to start with a new Opera profile again, and wipe things out at sync.opera.com, and start syncing from scratch.
Unfortunately, if the problem is due to some corruption, if you just keep using Opera, Opera Sync, and Windows as-is, you'll probably never see a fix for this.

RE: Opera commands or urlOpera for Windows
To get to the full list in chrome, you can goto the URL
chrome://chrome-urls/
orchrome://about
. Though, Opera doesn't support all of them and some are different in Opera. I think there might be a few opera-specific ones too. So, Chrome's list isn't perfect, but it'll help.Opera should have a chrome-urls link too, but it doesn't.

RE: Speed dial extensions no longer supported!Opera for Windows
Opera is based on Chromium and Chromium doesn't really support the behavior. Opera has to hack the source to make it work. With Chromium 73, they changed so much stuff in that area that it broke speed dial extensions and it became too much work for Opera to make them work.

RE: Can't change default search engineOpera for Windows
Goto the URL
opera://settings/search
. You'll see a drop-down there where you can choose a different default search engine. The list is limited to the default search engines listed under "Manage search engines". You can set a search engine you add as the default. -
RE: Video not playing in OPERAOpera for Windows
