Standard bookmark support will arrive very soon on Opera for iOS.

It will include a universal 'star' function from menu that allows you to add a favorite/bookmark to either the Speed Dial or the Bookmark section.
You will be able to add, edit and move and will be able to create your own bookmark folder structure and organize your favorites.

The bookmark feature needs to be in place in order for us to start working on sync which will be the next step.

Just for clarification:
There is currently no sync support on Opera for iOS as present on desktop and android browsers. Signing in to the Opera account website will not sync the browser, just give access to the account via webpage. There is no special native app to webpage integration.

Note: The only syncing available is via the Flow feature that syncs Flow messages and tabs on connected devices.

Why no sync on iOS:
Its an old legacy issue, other platforms are based on the chromium open source and gets sync as part of the package (with a lot of actual coding on top), on iOS this needs to be implemented from scratch to play with the other platforms. Its not a trivial task, but will take months to implement.

When can we expect it:
We intend to start working on the account/sync task the next few weeks and after that it will take quite some time of development and testing before we can launch. A lot of testing. Lets hope for a christmas present.

Opera 3.3.0 in forum beta channel test

We are about to release a new version. If you are in our Beta forum test group on TestFlight, please let us know what you think.

The new version includes:

• Fix for a crash introduced with the previous release
• Privacy Consent dialog - informing about what data we collect and why
• Options to control which data we can collect, in a new Privacy section in Settings
• We will also ask for permission to track the user across apps. If allowed we can collect the device advertising ID in order to measure our own advertising campaigns, personalize the news content and show ads that is more relevant for the user.
  For example, we will be able to track if a user that clicked one of our ads to install Opera, actually installed the app and be able to measure if the ad campaign is successful or not.
• Some string changes and new translations

The TestFlight release will be available soon, when it passes app review.

In case you missed it:

Standard bookmarks support was added on Oper Browser for iOS in April.

• You can add a site to either Speed Dial or bookmarks from the Menu > Star icon, select location in the Bookmark sheet that open in bottom
• If an site is already starred and loaded in a tab, the star is "filled" and user can tap it to edit it.
• You can open bookmarks from the Bookmarks section by opening Menu > Bookmarks
• You can also edit or move or delete bookmarks in the Bookmarks section by long pressing on an item.
• You can add folders and delete them.

Sync and import bookmarks feature is on the roadmap for this fall.

Hi

The issue has been fixed now and an update released. Pls update Opera Touch, open the browser and go to settings to "Connect with computer" in the Crypto Wallet section.

The issue was caused by an invalid key, after the update the app will generate a new keys and the wallet on touch will be able to connect to desktop browser again.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you and that it took such a long time, We hope you have no further issues.

Opera Browser (on iOS) version: 3.2.0 was published today.

Changelog:
Introducing News on the home screen:

• The feed is infinite, scroll down and it will just automatically load more articles
• Pull to refresh at top of page to get new articles
• Scrolling up, will display a 'Back to top' button
• You can enable and disable news on the homescreen and change country/language in Settings->News section
• Note: Initially we do not support news for all country and language combinations, but plan to add more comprehensive support moving forward. If your locale is not supported the News feature will be disabled by default, but you can still try it out by enabling it in Settings.

Note on next plans for the News, adding category feeds and improved customization of the feed.

We can indeed confirm that the Tab UI started to open at top position, its a bug/regression and we will work on a fix asap. The tabUI should focus on the tab you are currently on.
Since we need to both fix and test it before release i expect that the update will be early next week.

Its a known issue and we have a fix ready that is about to be released. However, the update is currently stuck in Appstore app review, so it got delayed. Once we have sorted out the issues it will be available.

Speed Dials are paginated and can be scrolled horizontally.
There are page controls (dots) below the speed dials and they work the same as on ios home pages.
You can swipe on the speed dial (area) or tap and drag on the page control to fast-scroll between SD pages.
We will look into fitting more speed dials on the same page, and other improvements, but it will remain horizontal scrolling.

• add a minor indicator (without adding unnecessary vertical space)
• maybe auto scroll a bit to showcase the option

If you swipe sideways (to the right) the rest of your speed dials will be available, the Speed dials are now paginated, horizontally.

So from a UX perspective, some speed dials may not be visible directly, depending on the screen size, maybe, 1 or 2 rows would have been shown, but otherwise a user would need to scroll downwards.
With the new startpage design, the scroll is changed to horizontal instead. Almost the same.

The reason for the change is that we want to de-clutter the startpage, while still being able to show limited product info, news etc at a first glance without being too distracting.

The bottom search layout is only available on phone devices. Given the form factor and the heft of such device its hard to hold with one hand and navigate it from the bottom. We will look at iPad optimizations at a later date, for the next few releases we are keeping things as is.

We have disabled the recent tabs from showing on startpage, we will address that use case differently from before, most likely by adding one shortcut on startpage that gives access to all recent tabs from desktop, two steps but more choice.
