@andrew84
I asked in a Windows 11 support forum and the Icon is for Opera to serve ads.
Brave is doing the same thing they are very open about it, a big ad across the start page, an explanation and you can easily disable it in Brave.

RE: New Purple Icon at the top my Start Page with an Advent MessgeGeneral
@Sequester I submitted a bug report. You can turn it off but it keeps coming back.
If I could turn it off and it stayed off It would not be so bad.
I have uninstalled that version and gone back to the previous version.
Also have disabled auto update for the time being.

New Purple Icon at the top my Start Page with an Advent MessgeGeneral

Hi Opera Community
I am hoping someone can help me please?
All of a sudden the purple icon has appeared at the top my Speed Dial Home Page and and when clicked, There is the Advent Message as per the second image.
I click the X and Close it and it reappears again.
Is this some new feature or have I been infected with Malware?
I did a full scan with Micrsoft Defender and nothing showed up.
I am running Window 11 25H2 Build 2600.7171 and my Opera Version is 124.0.5705.65.
If this is some new feature does anyone know how to disable it please?

Opera listed twice in Programs and featuresOpera for Windows
I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit, in Programs and Features Opera is listed twice Opera Stable 48.0.2685.39 Size 328MB and Opera Stable 50.0.2762.45 Size 0MB. 50.0.2762.45 is the version I am running.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Opera and I am just wondering why Opera is listed like this?
When I uninstalled there was no version of Opera listed in Programs and Features, I deleted all the user data removed all references to Opera in the Windows Registry.

RE: Opera MailOpera for Windows
Thank you sgunhouse "How are you starting the program?"
It doesnt matter if I start from a shortcut, start menu or the operamail.exe file the program behaves the same way.
The computer otherwise is fine, I have scanned the computer with Webroot Secure Complete, Malwarebytes and Super Anti Spyware nothing detected.
I reinstalled Opera Mail over the top of itself and it didn't fix the problem.
I only use Opera Mail as a newsreader, Office Outlook 2010 is my email client.
