can I use Opera on an old (8 years) Chromebook? Or a not so old (4 years) Chromebook? Or a brand new?

I believe this question was opened two years ago, but I am afraid things change-particularly for Chrome users.
So here is this: can I use Opera on an old (8 years) Chromebook?
Or a not so old (4 years) Chromebook? Or a brand new?
My needs are very simple, email, shopping, browsing.
I am the new member, 319 years old, but with vast systems experience, all at least 10 years old.
The main reason for the change is the deluge of Google advertising, and their move to block blockers.
I will study and appreciate all ideas in reply. -

@roadgard There are two ways to run Opera on a Chromebook. You can either run the Android version from the Play store, or you can enable Linux on your Chromebook and then install the appropriate Linux version. Note that Linux doesn't support on-screen keyboards, so if you have a detachable keyboard Chromebook and intend to use it as a tablet you'll need the Android version, but otherwise the Linux version has more features.
Older Chromebooks, I'd have to know which versions of Android and Linux they use.

@sgunhouse Thanks; But also, I have read recently that Google is doing all kinds of stuff to block or disable ad blockers - or disable the users like me who want to block some ads. Let us say I buy a new Chromebook today, and install Opera, or whatever variant may appear best. Then is Google going to kill my access?
You see I am quite confused about what is best. I had been a long time user of Mac and Windows hardware but I think they have become too trouble laden to use anymore, and all I want is a simple reliable browser with a reasonable load of ads. I will pay for a product that works. -

@sgunhouse This is in reply to an old post. I have a very old Chromebase or Chromebox (Not a Chromebook). It is at least 12 years old and the browser in not supported at all and now most websites keep saying the browser is not supported and needs to be updated, but it cannot be updated. Can I replace the Chrome browser with the Mini Opera browser?
