Well, I opened one, sort of, though I gave an existing e-mail address. The whole email set up showed with a message from Opera and all the send, etc options. I uninstalled it since it didn't offer a new address option and didn't get a good look into it.

Let me get this right, you have created a user account here in the hope of getting a free email account ?.
If so, I have already said in my previous post that Opera ASA no longer offer email accounts any more. That service, along with the My Opera community blogs, picture sharing etc ended in March 2014.
Maybe Gmail, Yahoo mail, Fastmail or a number of other Mail services will be an option for you ?.
As for Lycos, I had no idea they were still going ?. I use to use their search engine, along with Hotbot (also owned by Lycos) many many moons ago, it was the best (IMO) available at the time. As for their email service, I would have no idea, as I never knew they offered such a service, much less used it.

@sgunhouse @tomwgf: The current OperaMail installer (Opera-Mail-1.0-1040.i386.exe) offers the option to import all email messages and email settings, right at the beginning of the installation process. It worked for me; more than 20,000 messages in 7 email accounts copied correctly from Opera 12.17 into OperaMail.
Importing email account passwords from 12.17 didn't work.

After all, something did go wrong with this mail move from O 12.17 to OM 1: In OM's Advanced Preferences window, unchecking Notifications for new messages and Program event sounds was not persistent and had no effect.
I noticed that in OM's operaprefs.ini, the line Show Notification For New Messages=0 and the complete section [Sounds] was not present. I imported both missing elements from the operaprefs.ini of 12.17 and it seems to work.
