Opera for Android - how to open weblinks in external apps?

I'm using Opera for Android on my mobile phone. Version 80.6.4244.78244. Android 12.
When I am browsing and come across a link to, say, youtube or twitter, I want to press on that link and have it open in the relevant app. So, if there is a link to a youtube video, I don't want to open a new tab with that video on the youtube website, I want to open the youtube app and view the video there.
I can't find anywhere in Opera's settings that lets me do this. The closest I can get is in two locations:
- settings > Privacy & security > site settings > External apps.
When I look there, in the "External Apps" part of settings, there is an item "External app shortcut" labelled "Show shortcut in page menu" and an on/off slider. There's no explanation of what this does.
- settings > Privacy & security > site settings > "All sites".
This takes me to a list of websites, and if I press on one of these, I'm given the option "External app - always open in app" with an on/off slider. This looks like it does what I want, but it's only offered for websites in that list, and the websites I'm interested in aren't listed. And I see nowhere that I can add websites to that list.
What am I missing?
It's rather frustrating that Opera seems to have no proper help documentation anywhere.

@lineweight Your first item says to add Open in external app" to the page menu, meaning that once a page has opened in Opera you could select to open it in the app from there. That allows you to choose for each page, rather than always using the app.
The second option - when on any YouTube page click on the icon in front of the address in the address bar. At the bottom of the panel that pops up will be a link to site settings. Changing anything there adds the current site (YouTube) to site settings, so just enable "Always open in app".

With the first option, I see it lets me choose to do this "always" rather than just this time. And choosing always adds twitter to the list of sites visible in the second option.

It's poor that there's (as far as I can see) no help documentation for Opera that would let me find this out for myself.

I recently encountered a frustrating issue where clicking a link in an app like WhatsApp would open it in Opera (my default browser) instead of the corresponding app, like YouTube. After some trial and error, I found a solution that worked for me and wanted to share it to save others the headache.
Details:

Problem:
Clicking a link for which an app is installed (e.g., a YouTube link in WhatsApp) opens the link in Opera Browser instead of the YouTube app.Solution:
Follow these steps to ensure links open in the appropriate app:-
Adjust App Settings:
- Go to Settings on your Android device.
- Navigate to Apps.
- Find and select the app that should open the link (e.g., YouTube).
- Look for an option like "Open by default" (this might vary slightly depending on your phone's UI, like Samsung's One UI).
- Ensure that the app is set to handle the relevant links.

Configure Opera Browser:
- Open Opera Browser.
- Navigate to the website that you want to open directly in its respective app (e.g., go to a YouTube link).
- Click the green secure icon next to the URL in the address bar.
- In the box that appears, click on "Site settings" in the bottom right corner.
- Under "External app", toggle "Always open in app" to on.

Optional:
- You can restart the Opera browser to ensure settings are applied, but this usually isn't necessary.
And that's it! Your links should now open directly in the corresponding apps instead of Opera.
