Any way to remove this from the old Start Page?
http://img.ie/k6ydk.pngI also have my speed dial set up the way I want it, so is there a way to remove the "new speed dial" button?

Hi @t-flip, go to the address bar and type opera:flags#experimental-start-page, press enter, select "Disabled" from the drop-down, and restart the Opera

New, small, but significant update for the Opera beta 27.0.1689.44, the change log, and the official announcement
"There are couple of things worth mentioning for this build, letโs start with Chromium updates. Over the time of the holiday break two of them were pushed to Opera beta, and currently we are using 40.0.2214.69 version.
Our developers also fixed annoying bug that was happening on Facebook for our users using various IMEs โ you should now be able to input characters without any problems. Crash fixes and other improvements are listed, as always, in our changelog."

But... where is the new Speedial? O.O
Now I have the "classic" version. In addition it loads slowly every time I start the browser. -

The full change log for version 27, and the official announcement
Highlights:
Navigation bar: since the very moment we introduced visual bookmarks, we wanted to improve the navigation between Speed Dial, bookmarks and the Discover feature. We have played with many concepts, and todayโs released navigation bar is the best option. You always know where you are, it gives you more space at the top of the window, and you can use the background of your choice without the previous fade-out effect.
Tab preview: tab preview is back! When you click to expand the tab list and move the cursor over the names, youโll also see previews, so it will be easier to distinguish the desired tab. Itโs a simple, yet powerful, solution.
Last but not least, we are now actively migrating users to the Pepper API Adobe Flash plug-in, so please donโt hesitate to install it, when Opera prompts you to do so.

In opera 27 the new speed dial has been disabled by default. To re enable it enter this in the address bar: "opera://flags/#experimental-start-page" without quotes. Change Experimental start page to enable then restart opera. Back as well is the "go back to the old start page" in the lower right corner.

ref: bottom speed dial navigation possibly affecting vertical scroll bar usage when browsing your speed dial.
Recently my Opera Updated to v27.0.1689.54. I noticed some navigational features had been moved from the top of the screen to the bottom, where they now overlay the speed dial. My speed dial also consists mostly of grouped thumbnails starting from the top.
I tried scrolling through my speed dial from top to bottom using the LMB but unfortunately this wasn't happening; the scroll bar was locked at the top. However, the MMB worked fine so I used that. I also noticed that if you manage to scroll down a little, you then re-gain control the ability to scroll up and down using the LMB method. But the moment the scroll bar returns to the top of the screen it stays there and won't budge, forcing you to use the MMB option. Scrolling through web pages is unaffected by this issue.
I later read l33t4opera's post above on restoring top bar navigation:
"l33t4opera: Hi @webcm, you can disable it (restore top bar): go to the address bar, and type opera:flags#webui-navigation-bar, press enter, select "Disabled" from the drop-down, and restart the Opera ;-"
I tried this, restarted Opera and it not only restored the to bar but also worked around the bottom bar issue.. I can now use both the LMB and MMB to scroll through the speed dial as before.
I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has the same issue and wants a possible workaround before any updates. Hope this helps
