Same problem here: After I restored all my Tabs, today everything is gone again. Maybe it's finally time to switch to Vivaldi.

It's just ridiculous how bad quality control became.

I had found an arrangement in Opera Version 100.0.4815.30: as long as I did not touch any islands (I have them deactivated) I did not experience any further tab wipe outs.
The only exception since was the update process to Opera 100.0.4815.47, when the tabs were dumped even with deactivated islands.
But after this update, still with islands deactivated, no tab wipe outs up till now.
I hope this information helps to solve this issue soon.

Yet another complete tab wipe out as I opened a link from an email in Opera. Opera was started by clicking on the email link, no instance of Opera was open before.
Not sure what caused this one actually.
As mentioned in my previous post, I had no issues as long as I did not touch any islands, neither let them create automatically nor assemble them manually.
But, as I recently recognized, Opera now interprets a group of pinned tabs as an island, at least you get the same pop up window as for an island when the mouse cursor is placed at the very left of the group of pinned tabs. (Unfortunately attaching images still not working)

Lets see what happens when I don't use pinned tabs in the next days, if the tab wipe outs persist and if there is an influence when an external link is opened in Opera, as experienced just now.

First attempt to start Opera from an email link without having any open tabs pinned caused no further tab wipe out so far...

Windows 11 Home up to date
          Opera One version: 100.0.4815.47
I use a single browser window with 15 workspaces, "Automatically create tab islands" disabled.

@marqm You are just spreading misinfo. only way to stop this happening is dev's fixing it or using tab suspender extension to suspend all tabs before quitting opera, that fixes the issue for now.

Same here, I just reboot the Mac while leaving the Opera open, after reboot, open Opera, empty tabs!!!
a70 was right, this does remind me of the Vivaldi browser which keeps losing tabs and workspaces.
guys, fix this ASAP. this is a big bug.

From a guy who just transferred from the Vivaldi browser 'cause it's too slow.

I have the exact same problem.

Last night I made a backup before shutting down for the day, and today Opera v99 autoupdated to Opera One v100, and it wiped all the tabs and workspaces.

On Opera v99 it worked great, but every time I copy the backed up files files back into %appdata%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Sessions I get all the tabs and workspaces back.

If I just close and reopen Opera, the tabs survive, but if I do anything, like click on a link or move a tab to a different workspace, the next time I open Opera One, all tabs are gone.

For now I can live with wiping the Sessions folder contents and copying back the backed up files, but I have like 100+ tabs, and the new version makes it much harder than normal to click to get the right tab coming to the front.

What do you mean with misinfo? All I wrote is what I experienced, hoping this information can help to fix the issue. What kind of misinfo could it be, when I report what works for me to avoid the symptoms of this issue for the moment?

So, I'm not the only one. Everytime I update Opera One to the new version, all my tabs from every workspace are wiped and some of them I had for ages opened and sometimes they don't show up in history to restore them... Amazing feature to test my memory for all the hundreds of tabs I need to find/restore.

@marqm Appenend to me 3 or 4 times in the last days...
the only thing i can add is that when i click on my user icon (top right little person) it says tha Opera Sync is OFF, but when i click it in settings it says that is ON...
Seems something related to crash occurring when moving tabs and some sort of weird behaviour of the Sync feature.
                      Hope this will stop occurring.
I've saved all my opened tabs (for all workspaces) in pinboards to restore all of them when necessary.

To my big surprise, the last Opera Update to version 100.0.4815.54 went without a further tab wipe out. I accomplished this by avoiding any usage of the tab islands feature. For that it is not sufficient to just deactivate the automatic creation of islands and not assembling them manually. This feature creeps back in action as soon as you use groups of pinned tabs. When you assemble pinned tabs to a group they automatically become a tab island, regardless if you have turned the automatic tab islands creation on or off.
At the last Opera update I had neither any tab islands nor any pinned tabs active. This seemingly was sufficient to avoid a tab wipe out at the update and I had no further wipe outs since I avoid tab islands creation in any form.
And some minor buggy behavior I would like to mention: every day at the first start of Opera the last active workspace starts with the start page and not with the last open tab, even though "Display the start page first" is deactivated in my settings.

@marqm Non of those options has worked, only thing that keeps working with no issue is using tab suspender extension and suspending every tab in each workspace before quitting opera

@mixchild sorry to hear that my workaround does not work for you. But instead of accusing me to spread misinfo (implying that I don't tell the truth which is quite insulting...) when your system reacts differently to mine, it may be more helpful to provide information here, developers who may read our thread could work with.
In none of your posts you ever mentioned your system specifications, you only state that something is not working...
It seems that Opera One runs less stable on Windows 10 than on Windows 11 for example. I did not experience the issue that Opera crashes when a tab is dragged to the upper left corner of the browser window in Windows 11 Home, users on Windows 10 reported this issue. There seems to be also some influence if synchronization is used or not regarding stability...

@marqm I agree, windows 10 version could be more unstable, nothing insulting here, just saying that this issue might not have any workaround until they fix it, to be honest I'm surpised they have released new update since this report and didn't even fix the main issue

I have been able to observe the lost tabs on my systems as well. Fortunately, I always had the option to backup & restore or snapshotting.
Using 100.0.4815.54 and previously on Fedora Linux and Windows Server 2019. It is likely to be related to Tab Ilands or Syncronization or in combination in my opinion as previously described. Let's say I do the work to reproduce the bug again. Where could I report the bug, is that even necessary anymore?

Lost all of my tabs in 2 work spaces 3 times within 3 weeks. 2 times directly after crashes, the 3rd time after a clean close of the browser and system shutdown, to find all my tabs gone again 2 hours later after the next boot.

Obviously I have the option enabled to restore open tabs, as I did have for years. Otherwise why would people complain about missing tabs. I don't know why I am even writing this, like, just use your brain before commenting.

Before the Opera One update I did have crashes (though by far not as frequent) but I have never lost my open tabs in years. Before even looking into the crashes (they can always happen anyway), fix the tab restore feature, then crashes are at least not that bad.

Windows 10, latest version (version: 100.0.4815.76), and running it on Linux Mint Mate, latest version. MINT wiped out twice, though has been stable for the last week, but Win10 is a nightmare.

Tabs are continuously being wiped out. This is wasting so much time. They have the time to create their stupid musical 'O' intro that blasts my speakers at launch, so maybe that dev time could have been put to better use, instead of nuking my tabs?

I've used this browser for 20 years, but this really is starting to look like Cory Doctorow's "ensh*ttification" at work again. This has being going on for two weeks!!!!!! Two freaking weeks!

                                    Wakey wakey opera!

Ah who am I kidding, time to look for a better browser...but I really don't like Firefox.

Fidelius, looks promsing, I'll check it out.
Currently keeping all tabs bookmarked in speeddial folders, which is an annoying but functional workaround.

This reminds of me of Adobe's catastrophic update to PS about 2 years ago which nuked my CC PS, as well as older ones. We had a very long thread about that on Adobe's forums, many people were srewed by that. I canceled by CC sub at that point - not the only one. At least Opera isn't charging me a monthly. Still, sad to see the rot setting in.

This bug is actually quite risky, as I need to keep a lot of tabs open for work.
