Hello and happy update day, We’re pleased to announce that Opera 96 has now been released on the Stable branch! This new build is based on Chromium version 110.0.5481.100. In this version the #snapshot-full-page option is turned on, so now you can enjoy making a full-page top-to-bottom screenshots. Also, it’s the first Stable build without […]

Why is the browser constantly attempting to upgrade to Opera 96, if you discontinue support for Windows 7 and 8.1?

Does Opera 96 support the #high-efficiency-mode-available flag? When I enabled this in Opera 95 it would crash every time Opera opened. I had to run Opera with the command line option to disable all flags and disable it before it stopped crashing. I guess that flag was not supported in Opera 95 so wondering if it is supported in Opera 96. It would be nice to have the performance section options like Chrome supports in v110.

@lancealot It doesn't. It's a Chromium flag, so it may not work in Opera.

@lancealot We will probably only know when it starts being supported. Since it's still disabled by default in Chromium, I don't think they will think about working on it by now.

@leocg Actually it is now enabled by default in the latest Chrome 110 release. Since the newly released Opera 96 is based on Chromium version 110 I thought maybe it would be supported. Hopefully it gets supported in a future version of Opera since I find it very useful for saving memory (freezing tabs) and allows for whitelisting websites you don't want to freeze. The battery saver feature is not as important that also was released (flag #battery-saver-mode-available) since Opera has had a battery saving mode for a long time.

On Windows 7 64-bit I have V95.0.4635.46. if you go to "Menu | Help | About Opera", Opera downloads version 96 and asks for a restart to finish the update. But then it changes its mind and keeps version 95. If you check "About Opera" again it repeats the process.

@burnout426 I know how and what to turn off, but why is Beta 95.0.4635.28 not trying to update?, on the "stable channel" lacks testing?

Unusable, still this terrible Tab jumping by all Opera 96 and 97 versions. Opera 95 is the last one, without this failure.

@joquitatug Close Opera browser and remove "opera" folder from %temp% or \Windows\Temp .

@lancealot Opera has a feature to freeze/snooze tabs, just don't think that there's a exception list.

Cannot move tabs between different browser windows anymore. Pretty severe regression....
