Leo, I appreciate your response. However, both Opera and your response are confusing. Does that imply that it will instal (or not) if you download it on your own? Or does that suggest that if you upgrade Opera after 95, Opera 96, and beyond, it will instal but lack the security it had prior to 96?

@williamedward-99 You will not be able to install any Opera version above 95 if you aren't on Windows 10 at least, that's what I understood.
You should get a message saying that the OS is no longer supported if you try to install Opera 96 and above.

Ok, I am really adverse to upgrading to Windows 10 - just so I can use Opera.
I have been testing Waterfox browser, and I like it, and am thinking I may simply switch browsers (seems that Waterfox will continue supporting Win 7) instead of upgrading my Windows 7 laptop
