Tried on the Google side? That is, if you go to Google.com to search, does it return Google.co.il search results? Google often does that, but there is a setting available on Google.com to prevent it.

I have the same problem, but I am getting google.se. I am farly certain that I had a Swedish IP when I started Opera for the first time, so that might be why. However, I am not located in Norway with an norwegian IP, but can't get the google.se out of the way.
Any fix for this?

It's designed to be unfixable and any slips towards fixability are being promptly fixed. For example, in the most recent developer build the developers hail "pretty nice UI improvement to our search engine manager." I, too, live in Israel but get google.com and not google.co.il
Check in preferences on the Search tab, edit the Google entry. Under details, I have:
http://www.google.com/search?q=%s&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest
I see on the same details tab where one can select to use this as default search engine and speed-dial search engine.
I am using Opera 12.16 but maybe the same applies in your case. -

@Mervyn - The same options don't exist in the newer versions of Opera. In 12.16 you can edit existing search engines, delete any/all of them, as well as adding new ones.
In Opera 18 there are 5 preset search engines that can't be edited nor deleted - Google, Bing, Yahoo, Wikipedia and Amazon. However, you can make any of these search engines the default, and you can also add new search engines and make any of those the default, so maybe that's the solution.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the use of search engines in 18, simply because you can't edit/delete the 5 search engines that already exist in the program.
