Can I encrypt an outgoing email in Opera Mail 1.0? Either by Opera or something like 7zip?
And if so, does the receiver have to use the same program I used to unencrypt it?
I've never encrypted an email message before, just attachments.

@rh99 Not sure, I don't use it since a long time, but I don't think you can encrypt messages in Opera Mail.

@rh99 Mail itself doesn't support plug-ins, the only way you'd be able to encrypt a message is to write your message in an external program, encrypt the file, then attach it to a regular e-mail. Mind you, encrypted archives are a common way viruses spread so the recipient will need to know this is a real message from you and not a virus (because he's expecting it).

There are encrypted messaging apps, I might suggest one of those instead.

@sgunhouse Thank you....makes sense. Do most email programs (Thunderbird or Outlook for instance as being probably the most popular) offer encryption now? It would be nice for the receiver to just enter a password instead of needing to use the same encryption program to decrypt as it was originally encrypted in.
