hello there. have some annoying problem. this is my fault. but still: rich hints agent extension definitely contains some sort of a miner\virus inside. so its loading cpu like hell most of the time. and the only option i can see is drop extension's process in shift+esc menu, everytime when browser starting. updates didn't help. remove button in extension's developer menu do not work. i do really like opera, and will continue using it no matter what. just need some help: how to delete\remove or permanently disable rich hints agent extension. thank you all, and best regards.

@kiremon It doesn't have any malware or miner.
        And you can't remove it.

@leocg thanks. but. then why this particular extension loading cpu 25-50% for hours? even if there is no open tabs or any activity.

@kiremon Probably a bug. By the way, I don't see it happening here on Opera Developer 88.

In some (russian) forums I noticed recommendation to clear last month data (cache etc) and update Rich Hints Agent to latest version.
I would think (not sure of course, just an idea) that this extension downloads some third-party scripts and sometimes those scripts are a bit evil.

It would be very helpful if Opera could tell us, what exactly those hidden non-removable extensions do, otherwise at least I qualify them as mild malware. Sure we have to live with these extensions - there are likely no chromium based browsers, not spying after their users 😞

Indeed, but there is no reaction from Opera Support - my answer for this is: change to vivaldi.

Almost a year passed away since this topic has been opened. Could someone from Opera team clarify this thing? I have the same symptoms as a topic-starter had. Mac M1 50-60% CPU usage by this extension. I really don't like even the idea that there might be malware, which prompts me to change the browser.
