I agree, but perhaps it shouldn't be named "Firefox Tinkering", because it should involve other browsers as well.
It's not that I don't trust you, but do you have any link to those statements? I just want to see that.

Too bad we don't have a Software forum any more.
Knowing you. Josh, you probably asked "How can I get Firefox to ..." and one of the other mods said "This isn't a Firefox support forum - ask them" and closed the thread. I do see a point there. If you want to post a thread saying "This is what I did to make Firefox more like Presto" or maybe "Recommended extensions for Firefox?" that should be fine, but we don't do tech support for non-Opera products (they have their own tech support).

Gustavwiz, http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-no-longer-works-some-versions-windows-xp.
I see your points, dudes. Still, one thread per each other browser in a lounge is not too inappropriate - for Opera users not wanting to move/shift to another support forum/site /browser.

Just visited Firefox's support site today, and I noticed in one case, they officially suggest certain users to install Opera - and they have a link to that.
So why?
I'm about some parity here. ...FYI (and for some perspective), Firefox 13 was the first FF version that required XP-SP2 or greater and was released in June 2012. Consequently, the material in that Mozilla support page ( http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-no-longer-works-some-versions-windows-xp ) dates to mid-2012 as well. At that time, Presto Opera was the only Opera desktop browser in existence, so the Opera referral in the page was to the then-current Presto version, for XP users running SP1 or lower. Note that the referral was not a "recommendation" of Opera as a browser brand per se, but instead just a "courtesy" link posting of a possible alternate browser still (then) being developed for users of old systems (XP-SP1 or lower) to try... coupled with warnings to users of dangers in running either old FF or Windows versions. "Parity" for Opera would be a support web page simply recommending that users of WinXP-SP1 or lower who could not use Blink Opera might consider using Presto Opera or Firefox 12 versions or lower... coupled with copious warnings that using old browsers and OS's has major risks.
I'm unaware of Mozilla forum threads that are dedicated to discussing the best methods of tweaking non-Mozilla browsers.

For your consideration, I'm using v.12.0 for now*:)*
(People say v.38 hogs a lot, etc.) -

I guess the Helling Machine helled my post for having "911" in there.
Let's see if I'm right...

Has this thread been poised to sink?
If yes, why?
If not, is it a glitch? I just posted there - and it did not up. -

If not, is it a glitch? I just posted there - and it did not up.I did it. There's no point in having a topic about installing an outdated version of a discontinued product in an outdated unsupported system taking up the space of other much more relevant topics in the forum sub-categories pages. Users coming to the forums will be best served with topics about the current version.
I hope you understand my view and that doesn't affect negatively in the way you use the forum. -

A strong argument for topics about pre-15 Opera versions having their own forum section I would have thought!

If one accepts that an Internet Year is roughly equivalent to 5 ordinary years ( http://www.fatdux.com/blog/2009/09/22/calculating-the-length-of-an-internet-year/ ), the last significant version of Presto Opera - 12.13/4 - works out to about 10 Iyears old, and version 10.63 is around 35 Iyears old. Think in terms of ordinary objects like washers and dryers, automobiles, lawnmowers, or TV's to get a sense of the practical 'age' of the browser. In that regard, questions involving 10.63 really belong in an 'antique browser' section of a forum. Unfortunately, there is no such section here.

We could have an Opera Legacy board...
That about the past and side projects. -

We could, could. Until this moment they haven't opened this sub-forum and we are nearing 3 years of the first Chromium-based release, why would they now...? Maybe it isn't healthy to even hint they still give support (through a forum) to the Presto version, as they don't.
Those questions will disappear eventually. -

Please unclose this thread - it is kinda useful: nobody's obliged to post there much or even anymore - there's enough stuff there to just read and learn, how to do things, how to avoid certain things, what happens when you do so and so...

My "weather report" has been held again - after a while though.
What was it now? Drizzling? "Wet blanketing cloud"? "Feeling ill"? -

You misspelled "snow" as "show", but not sure why it was held.
Again?
I know though: I typed "breethe" instead of "breathe".
This is a bloody spell-checker not a spam filter!
