2 quits needed to quit Opera

I am using the latest Opera version (77.0.4054.203 (x86_64)) on macOS 11.4. When I quit the app - either by command+Q or from the menu option - the window closes and reopens after 3 seconds. If I quit it again, then it quits for good. What is causing this? Are the browser extensions to blame perhaps (I am also using some Chrome extensions)? Note that this behaviour is evident for about 3-5 months. Before that, quitting was working properly.
Not sure if it is related, but Opera also prevents me from shutting down the macbook. Even with 10 apps running, when I press shut down they obey and quit so the macbook shuts down. If an Opera window is active, then it doesn't obey and stops the shut down midway. This "midway" thing causes secondary problems that I do not have to explain here.
Any ideas?

Same here. Just updated to Version:78.0.4093.112 (x86_64) and seems to be working fine now. I noticed it happens a lot after a full day of using Opera too. I can't even close Opera without using Force Quit.

@chandhann I don't use a Mac, but I noticed a new setting in Linux that reads "Hold Ctrl-Q (or press it twice) to quit". I have to guess that some websites expect to use Ctrl-Q in their apps and this is their workaround. See if turning it off helps.

@sgunhouse I've seen that setting and it's currently off. Even when I tried to restart my Mac, Opera is the only one that doesn't close. It started happening around the beginning of this year...
