"Crypto" Speed Dial shortcut appeared from nowhere

  • Hello, a speed dial link called "crypto" just appeared randomly, with the url

Is this the web browser's normal behaviour, or a virus?

If the former, I am going to uninstall Opera from all my devices, then go on a lethal killing spree targeting Opera employees (just kidding, ho ho ho). If the latter, please advise on removal instructions.

  • Normal? Well, yes, but not frequent. They make money when you visit one of their partner links, so from time to time they will add new links, If you are not interested just delete it.

Hmm. Do you understand my suspicion, though? A link called 'Crypto', with a url starting with "redirect"...all looks a bit dodgy at first glance, especially if you happen to be criminally insane and tend to massively over react to every tiny little thing. Perhaps a little pop up, like, "hey, the lads at Opera just added a totally official paid link to your speed dial!", complete with a nice link to the official Opera site so that I can verify this for myself, would stop this question being asked by others.

Ah,well, nothing to worry about then? Thanks, good to know.

    Your bestest chum,

    Serial Killer Jimmy Jago
