web based media has no sound in Opera

On a lark I looked further into eartrumpet. I mean, why not? It was last updated in 2016 (that's not good), it is x86 architecture so it's unlikely to be forward compatible, and when I attempted to download and install, nothing at all happened.
This can be one of two things
- Windows policy won't allow it (it's a work computer, it's out of my hands).
- It's too old, and won't install (my guess, and probably the actual reason).
This convinces me that it had some qualities people like, because whenever that happens Microsoft uses updates that move ahead of the software market forcing companies to further develop (costing money). It's free, so they didn't. This lets Microsoft scoop up their stocks if they want to, and absorb their technology and hide their patents when they liquidate. It's been happening since the mid 1990s. Lower the value of the competition, buy them, make it your own.
But I digress. Very briefly, this did not work in this instance.

@john-phd "The grahics which I already posted show that sound is disabled. While I am a rocket scietist, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce this." this is directly from a comment you wrote also surrounding context points to no sarcasm
secondly i really dont need validation when i know what im talking about i let my emotions get the better of me regrettably in previous posts
and finally while i do admit i was adressing you in my previous post my main goal was to help people with an actual solution to this problem and the videos are so literally anyone can follow and while this has been a lovely little back and forth i can also see why people stopped replying to you so have a nice life this will be my last post i hope ive helped someone
as a side note i have no punctuation (sorry) due to the fact my childs been trying to take my phone out of my hands as ive been writing this......

@lkays2014 Ok, so did you have a point, or do you just not realize that you are being condescendiing? I mean, the problem for me was resolved, and if it recurrs, I will probably (passively) pursue it. But at the same time, basic psychology .... you keep using my name and while you might think this addresses a public audience, it really doesn't. You are trying to be that annoying jerk-off that looks at the one guy in the room that he's realling talking about, when talking shit to a group. It's annoying, and kind of childish. It's also not at all productive. Depending on the situation, it migh provoke a punch to the face if in person, because I too can be childish.
I don't really care about your problems, that you don't use punctuation and blame your kids for it. As a parent, this is a reality, but also as an adult, when I post I usually do it at convenient times so I can say what I intend to say. That's just being a grown up

@john-phd I've noticed this in a lot of forums, every time i have an issue with any app, the things people suggest never work. It's always something that no one ever expects. I understand your frustration - It seems people have been going around in the same circle over and over for the past four years

@snipernation317 Oh I know! I don't even have this issue anymore, but perhaps I have it in my mind to conduct these ongoing social experiments just to see if anything pans out.
Even if it doesn't, I learn from everything and it strengthens and fortifies my opinions.
Next, some 20 year old will say "you have not idea what you're talking about old man, you shouldn't quit" but after 30+ years of forums running in circles, what else do they do? I have an issue with Samsun as well, and their S series. Problem goes back to 2007 in the forums, and re-itterates whenever a new model phone comes out, same problem.

It's 2024 and I am still having the issue when I join a zoom call in Opera
Opera One(version: 109.0.5097.45)
Update stream:Stable
System:Windows 11 64-bit
Chromium version:123.0.6312.106No issues if I join using Chrome.
Audio works fine in Opera on other sites like youtube etc.
I do have the standalone version of Opera also installed on the same laptop but on a different folder
Opera One(version: 109.0.5097.68)
Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Windows 11 64-bit
Chromium version:123.0.6312.124I have tried joining the zoom call with the Built in Free VPN on and off and have the same issue.
If it helps this is a ACER Swift 514-55TA with 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz 16 GB RAM.

Any difference with hardware acceleration off at the URL
opera://settings/system
? Some users have to disable it to get WebRTC to work right. -

@burnout426 I can try changing that setting before joining my next call. but If it works in Chrome and Vivaldi I see no reason why Opera should need it off.

@bexik said in web based media has no sound in Opera:

Chrome can handle media a bit differently, but yes, in general, if Vivaldi can do something with hardware acceleration on, so should Opera.
