      @lkays2014

      some of my comments (bold)
      https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jqmtzfBOiuQJ6Wf4O5CUKCxqOcfS_i6g/view?usp=drive_link
This was 4 seconds long showing someone how to get to the microsoft store. Not sure the relevance

      1. Search for the app called ear trumpet. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gPkYJney0DZWAUyncBj0n4FleMKJRT21/view?usp=drive_link
My problem was with no sound in opera. You cannot amplify sound that does not exist.

then download the app called ear trumpet, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YqP2NKi04SbruQCVxf2AW1LzwJwtz9wY/view?usp=drive_link
Oh, how to download a program.... thank you so much

and finally use the app called ear trumpet https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wRCys2VX7ZbXV75i2bgkxnyAebtRGMBo/view?usp=drive_link
See comments to point 2. There is no sound, what I read about ear trumpet is that it is a "very powerful volume control". I have a volume control, I even have amplified speakers. You can amplify something that isn't there. The sound signal does not exist in Opera. This can probably be explained more technically, but in layman's terms, there is no sound being produced by Opera browser

Now that I have it all laid out for you (and even in video form no less), let's address your previous points.

      1. point number one is that your idea of it being an audio card issue etc. etc. is not the case as I've had the exact same issue down to the letter now. What you may ask is "then why are you using brave browser in your videos?" It is simply because I prefer brave over the other browsers out there currently and back when I found and tested this solution, I preferred opera.
Referring to my comments on point 2 and point 4 (not numbered) there is no sound, therefore your problem is not exactly like my problem. I want to say (I am on my lunchbreak and my time is valuble to me) that someone brought up eartrumpet in an earlier post but I'm not going to go look for it right now.
      1. Now john, my own very valid point. This audio issue is in no way windows related. it is in no way audio card related. This is an opera issue. It cannot be fixed in the opera settings (I have tried). It cannot be fixed in windows sound settings (I have tried). It cannot be fixed by rebooting the computer (i have tried). Is there anything I'm missing? Heck, it's been awhile but I've probably tried that too ear trumpet was the only solution. If there are any more questions. I have even recorded videos laying out the steps for you if you ever want to simply try them again.
yes of course your point is valid. Why seek validation when you can declare yourself valid? Genius. I know this is not audio card related, I think I said that myself in the very beginning. The sound card works well, but since no sound is produced inOpera, it rather removes the sound card from the equation. That's basic troubleshooting, and I dismissed that long before creating this thread. There is that eartrumpet reference again....... you really like that don't you?

to end this little step by step tutorial for any future users who have this issue john, by the very fact that you have stated your field of expertise, most people will in fact infer that you are smart.
I never stated my field of expertise. But as it sounded like a jab, I'm a research scientist since you seem to be pointing out "what does a dishwasher know anyway?" or something. I have had computers as my hobby for a very long time. I don't do it professionally, exactly, and that is not the point and therefore it doesnt' matter

For those who have had this issue and still have this issue, this solution is for you. @NH2022 is the one who recommended it and it was only due to this I was able to diagnose and fix the problem, so all props go to him, thanks man 😃

As a side note, I wanted to add that if it were as simple as muting or unmuting the speaker from the task bar, I can say with 100% certainty that I would have figured out such a simple solution.
Of couse you would. But then, you also suggest adding another sound control on top of the sound control to solve something that is not created by sound control

But the opera audio bug is a hidden mute button that somehow gets activated accidentally,
**where is it hidden? I would like to know, as would many others? It was not hidden in older versions. Or, it could be that it was removed and is a software bug as many (including me) suspect. But what the hell would I know? I thought all software was the same, as you say a little later on. **

and the only way to enable it is by either downloading and installing ear trumpet or, as you have said, waiting several months after uninstallation for the problem to be solved. However, this solution is immediate, and the answer I'm assuming you have been curious about maybe?
It would have saved me a lot of time writing these comments if you had said that in the beginning instead of wrriting a book, don't you agree? Other readers would have found it much more quickly as well before getting lost in the attempted condescension
      *

Not all software is the same. In all your knowledge thus far, This is one key factor you seem to be forgetting,
How do you know what I remember, and what I forgot? That is an amazing talent, especially since we have never met.

and it has been the very thing that led you to waste your time
Thank you dad. However, I want to point out that my time is mine, and I can waste it on whatever I see fit.

on so many other posts instead of looking at the one halfway up this thread and just being done with it.
I ignored the posts? Silly me. I thought this was a blog

You just chased a random rabbit instead for amusement, I guess?
You guessed it! That's what I do, chase random rabbits because I have shit else to do. Wow, you really got me. Nailed it bro.

      Oh well, moving on;
yes. Please. Move on. Free us.

at least it's here for others later on. Here's the solution to your problem (in the vast majority of cases relating to this issue, I would assume).

        @lkays2014

On a lark I looked further into eartrumpet. I mean, why not? It was last updated in 2016 (that's not good), it is x86 architecture so it's unlikely to be forward compatible, and when I attempted to download and install, nothing at all happened.

This can be one of two things

        1. Windows policy won't allow it (it's a work computer, it's out of my hands).
        2. It's too old, and won't install (my guess, and probably the actual reason).

This convinces me that it had some qualities people like, because whenever that happens Microsoft uses updates that move ahead of the software market forcing companies to further develop (costing money). It's free, so they didn't. This lets Microsoft scoop up their stocks if they want to, and absorb their technology and hide their patents when they liquidate. It's been happening since the mid 1990s. Lower the value of the competition, buy them, make it your own.

But I digress. Very briefly, this did not work in this instance.

@john-phd "The grahics which I already posted show that sound is disabled. While I am a rocket scietist, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce this." this is directly from a comment you wrote also surrounding context points to no sarcasm

secondly i really dont need validation when i know what im talking about i let my emotions get the better of me regrettably in previous posts

and finally while i do admit i was adressing you in my previous post my main goal was to help people with an actual solution to this problem and the videos are so literally anyone can follow and while this has been a lovely little back and forth i can also see why people stopped replying to you so have a nice life this will be my last post i hope ive helped someone

as a side note i have no punctuation (sorry) due to the fact my childs been trying to take my phone out of my hands as ive been writing this......

@lkays2014 Ok, so did you have a point, or do you just not realize that you are being condescendiing? I mean, the problem for me was resolved, and if it recurrs, I will probably (passively) pursue it. But at the same time, basic psychology .... you keep using my name and while you might think this addresses a public audience, it really doesn't. You are trying to be that annoying jerk-off that looks at the one guy in the room that he's realling talking about, when talking shit to a group. It's annoying, and kind of childish. It's also not at all productive. Depending on the situation, it migh provoke a punch to the face if in person, because I too can be childish.

I don't really care about your problems, that you don't use punctuation and blame your kids for it. As a parent, this is a reality, but also as an adult, when I post I usually do it at convenient times so I can say what I intend to say. That's just being a grown up

@john-phd I've noticed this in a lot of forums, every time i have an issue with any app, the things people suggest never work. It's always something that no one ever expects. I understand your frustration - It seems people have been going around in the same circle over and over for the past four years 🤣

@snipernation317 Oh I know! I don't even have this issue anymore, but perhaps I have it in my mind to conduct these ongoing social experiments just to see if anything pans out.

Even if it doesn't, I learn from everything and it strengthens and fortifies my opinions.

Next, some 20 year old will say "you have not idea what you're talking about old man, you shouldn't quit" but after 30+ years of forums running in circles, what else do they do? I have an issue with Samsun as well, and their S series. Problem goes back to 2007 in the forums, and re-itterates whenever a new model phone comes out, same problem.

It's 2024 and I am still having the issue when I join a zoom call in Opera
                      Opera One(version: 109.0.5097.45)
                      Update stream:Stable
                      System:Windows 11 64-bit
                      Chromium version:123.0.6312.106

No issues if I join using Chrome.

Audio works fine in Opera on other sites like youtube etc.

I do have the standalone version of Opera also installed on the same laptop but on a different folder
                      Opera One(version: 109.0.5097.68)
                      Opera is up to date
                      Update stream: Stable
                      System: Windows 11 64-bit
                      Chromium version:123.0.6312.124

I have tried joining the zoom call with the Built in Free VPN on and off and have the same issue.

                      If it helps this is a ACER Swift 514-55TA with 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz 16 GB RAM.

Any difference with hardware acceleration off at the URL opera://settings/system? Some users have to disable it to get WebRTC to work right.

@burnout426 I can try changing that setting before joining my next call. but If it works in Chrome and Vivaldi I see no reason why Opera should need it off.

@bexik said in web based media has no sound in Opera:

Chrome can handle media a bit differently, but yes, in general, if Vivaldi can do something with hardware acceleration on, so should Opera.
