Good News! Found a site that talks about the old Opera, the substitution of the libffmpeg.so file fix, and a workaround.
[link text]https://newbedev.com/opera-your-browser-does-not-currently-recognize-any-of-the-video-formats-available(link url)
As far as full disclosure - I have not followed the steps... so as usual: YMMV. I've been using a different browser of late. Looks promising though.
HTH.

I do not understand, because this browser, with all its advantages, innovative, and so good, has not been able to solve the problem of multimedia reproduction on the libffmpeg library, many users use this great browser, but I am already tired of every time update, I have to replace the file, with so many developers, and being a large company, they still don't give a solution to that, I love the browser and when I was on windows I used up to gx and on my mobile I have the browser, but how is it possible that they still cannot fix the problem of multimedia reproduction as direct, or videos on facebook or twitter, is there something the community can do to fix this definitively ?.
I, like many of us, want to use the browser in a normal way as in other operating systems Thank you so much -

@PixCatholica, I did some research and replaced libffmpeg.so with the one I downloaded from https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates/amd64/chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra/download
Download the Tutuapp package, find libffmpeg.so in it and extract it.
Open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu (this path may vary) click with right mouse button on "opera" folder and "Open as Root". Replace the libffmpeg.so with the new file.
Now you can play videos. Thanks for your advice; I have the same problem with playing videos, but your solution works for me as well.

@cupid-101 https://github.com/Ld-Hagen/fix-opera-linux-ffmpeg-widevine/
This worked for me on Opera 81.0.4196.60 on Linux Mint 20.2
Hopefully it will seamlessly update itself after each Opera update.

I had same issue. I changed just one flag:
opera://flags/#use-angle - from value "Default" to value "OpenGL".
And it helped me, now h.264 video playing correctly!
Test video: http://demo.nimius.net/video_test/
Opera v81.0.4196.60 stable. -

@styen Re: The Videos Don't Play Topic
3 days ago I updated Opera to 82.0.4227.23 and I've had no issues with the method suggested by Ld-Hagen at https://github.com/Ld-Hagen/fix-opera-linux-ffmpeg-widevine/

to replace the libffmpeg..so in the opera (82.0......) directory manually does not work anymore...
it's getting annoying
.
.
.
.
.
this working for me (Linux Mint):
1
install CHROMIUM2
open terminal and type in:sudo mkdir /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/lib_extra/
and
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/chromium/libffmpeg.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/lib_extra/libffmpeg.so
3
(re)start operaopera uses chromium's libffmpeg..so
maybe it is necessary to adjust the path(google translation)

Video Playback on Arch
If, after updating opera, video playback, on websites such as YouTube, crashes the tab, please install opera-ffmpeg-codecs from the community repository. This should remedy the playback error.

Thank you in advancedI don't know any version numbers. I just know these instructions worked for me several months ago and it updates properly.
My libffmpeg.so file is 1.8 MB in size in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/ and another one is 17.4 MB in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/lib_extra/

A couple of years back I raised the issue that in my experience Opera on Linux & Windows fails to play video streams.
You can assume latest OS & Opera versions and recent hardware.
I didn't find a cure (The fanbois with "works for me" comments were no help either).
Anyway, I looked in again today; Windows 10, Windows 11, Ubuntu 20.04, Linux Mint etc, Opera still won't play video streams, although the error message has changed:
Vimeo:
undefined Player error
The player is having trouble. We’ll have it back up and running as soon as possible. -

If you mean Netflix etc. Streaming is handled inside
opera and chrome with Widevine. In earlier versions this
was done by using a static version of libwidevinecdm.so inside the opera .deb file. Today this is handled dynamicly.

opening that url opens a page, which next immediately started updating all kind of things :
opening and updating above components will fix your streaming problems.
