        opera:flags#search-in-open-tabs

I'd previously used this solution a few months ago to get rid of the useless new replacement, but I've just upgraded laptops and am now finding that #search-in-open-tabs flag doesn't seem to exist, the closest thing that shows up is #search-in-closed-tabs. The first time I found this solution in the forums I remember people saying that disabling the flag would only be a temporary solution - should I take this to mean it's now impossible for me to get that recently closed tabs shortcut back?

I've seen numerous people repeat this complaint and hadn't bothered repeating it myself, but I can't fathom a single good reason to remove a long-term feature that makes Opera so much better & more convenient to use than other browsers. Even if you want to make a new feature available, it could at least be available an an option in browser settings or something! Making it completely impossible to retain a favourite usability feature feels like a big middle finger to loyal, long-term users.

I responded to this post because it was the most recent one regarding this but I'm not directing the complaint at you. It just grinds my gears like nothing else when something extremely useful is removed when it could just as easily be left as-is. Make the new tab menu an option, don't force it on people who will literally never use it. URGH. P***es me right off!

It seems now Opera displays last 3 closed tabs when pressing ctrl+space - which is very nice. But why only 3?? I want more - at least 10 closed tabs . Thanks

Hi @PopNLach, the flag (and its feature) is removed in Opera stable 70.0.3728.71. It's replaced with a new feature "Search In Tabs", where you can find 3 recently closed tabs. In Opera developer 71, there's already additional button "Show more" (which is under development) for recently closed tabs, that one should be able to use to see more than 3 tabs.

I hate that little search icon so much! The original list of recently closed tabs was essential for long browsing sessions. Now itยดs buried in the menu. Way to go ๐Ÿ˜ž You could at least keep the switch in flags and let your users to decide...

I don't even want to update the browser. Why was this useful feature removed?

Why would you remove a perfectly working function without giving a option to retain it.
This new "option" just sucks... it was one of the bests unique features of opera.

Will we see massive updates of the app icon in the upcoming releases? When will "Help" and "Settings" finally switch places in the menu? When will these crucial features demanded by thousands of users be there??

Return back recently closed tabs or else!

@leocg Where exactly? In general, this new functionality is not entirely clear. Why was it not possible to add this function with search without touching what was? People used this very actively. And you decided to "improve". This is the case when the best is the enemy of the good. And this topic arose - for a reason. It would be nice for the developers to listen to users' opinions, and not spit on them.

@moonik I wonder how a Google search would lead to this topic.

As I said, I don't have any links here, so you will have to search by yourself.

However, it's not very difficult to find out how to answer the question.
