@ericartman92 This is exactly what I wanted to ask. For a while Opera seemed to quit doing stupid things, but it looks like they are at it again.

Exactly. The problem is that many features are really useful, many are unique to opera, the presence of many is pinnacle of reasons why some use this particular browser.
Opera is moving from being a browser that can do so many separate different things to one that has questionable looks and is as tailored to a simple majority as it can be.
The real fanbase is dwindling when it comes to those that use opera for more than ten years and still love it for what it once was. -

I use this all the time.
As others have said, it discourages lean browsing.
I don't want 50 tabs open 'just in case',
Bring back the recently opened tabs please. -

Bring it Back!
Having some useful buttons was always making Opera better than other browsers. I was in grief when they removed a button that toggled Flash-autoplay while loading sites, then a button that switched loading images.
Now this super handy "recently closed" button. Please, don't -

@vadimkazealot That's why I keep on using Opera - because they have some very handy features that other browsers don't. And it really pisses me off when they start "improving" things. For example, I really miss the "Notes" feature, where you could highlight a chunk of text in a web-page and save it to a note.

@superduper Download the Vivaldi browser made by previous Opera's CEO/co-founder and some other Presto-era guys it has these features intact and improved.

@raphaelfrf @p11rat Switch to the Vivaldi browser because they don't remove features like that. That's the only way out Opera devs are giving us to have the features we want.

@rafaelluik Screw Vivaldi. I have been using opera for I don't know how long, may be over 10 years, and I don't want to switch to no vivaldis.
The closed tabs button has not been removed, but simple turned off in the Settings.
There is a parameter in Settings that allows to turn it back on. Look up the way to do it in this tread. -

@leocg
Yes, there is. That's how I got the button back.
Goto the URL opera://flags/#search-in-open-tabs, disable the flag, and restart Opera.
Are you a Midvale school for gifted graduate? -

The hidden setting DOES brings back, but the fact the setting is hidden means I can't rely on having this feature for long. I want it surfaced as a permanent option in the main settings section. I also can't recommend the browser to others because they won't be able to enable this feature, which I consider a primary differentiator and good reason to select opera.
