For a browser that is less well known struggling to gain share, it's appalling that a well-loved feature is simply ripped out. Recently closed tabs is my primary tool. I open a lot of tabs and close a lot, then realize I needed one of the closed. Happens often. Opera doesn't care about me, I don't care about it. I'm going to disable updates for now and prepare to switch to Firefox as my goto. #sad

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
This is a case study on how products and companies die. It's happening in real time, before our eyes.
Those people who are the product's champions, those motivated to communicate and post in forums most users wouldn't bother even discovering exist, are the ones who influence a product's outcome.
Please, company developers, by all means, remove well-liked features and watch your champions openly discuss using your competition out of frustration. That's a great strategy. It worked for Blackberry.

I registered on this forum solely to post this comment because this feature's removal has frustrated me so much. I used it constantly. I don't want to search open tabs.

RE: Advertising link at top of start pageOpera for Android
My wife got this multiple times and now it just happened to me.
Closing it only makes it go away temporarily.
I get that opera needs some form of remuneration but not being able to control what appears on my main homescreen drives me nuts. Opera has been my go-to browser for years and years but I won't stay if this persists.
Fix this.

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
I prefer the previous downarrow and immediate access to recently closed pages. I can accept the magnifying glass with the popup as less optimal but doable.
What I Cannot accept is only 3 recently closed pages. WTF?
Why F over your customers by removing popular options. Is Opera that secure in their browser leadership position that they can ignore their most loyal users?

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
The recently closed tab list issue is solved to my satisfaction, and I'm grateful the devs listened. Yes, I would prefer the older means, a more intuitive icon that opened the full list of closed tabs immediately, but that's a nitpick, because the list is there in its original spot and although it displays only three, more are available with a single click. Well done.
I presume the devs felt searching tabs was a high priority and, based on our rancor, sought to find a way to provide legacy functionality (reopen closed tabs) while offering the new sexy feature of searching open tabs. They succeeded as well as can be expected in this latest update.
I have yet to search a tab. But I reopen closed tabs frequently, if for no other reason than I accidentally close one I meant to keep open while closing a slew of others I had opened.

How hard would it be to add a setting slider that toggles the button between search (new) and closed tabs (old)

RE: [Solved]Bring back the "Recently closed" button on the top bar on the rightSuggestions and feature requests
The hidden setting DOES brings back, but the fact the setting is hidden means I can't rely on having this feature for long. I want it surfaced as a permanent option in the main settings section. I also can't recommend the browser to others because they won't be able to enable this feature, which I consider a primary differentiator and good reason to select opera.
