According to Wikipedia:
Opera Software AS is a Norwegian software company, primarily known for its desktop Opera web browser, and its mobile counterpart Opera Mini.
The company changed ownership when Otello (at the time, Opera Software ASA) sold its web-browser and consumer businesses along with the Opera brand to a Chinese group of investors in 2016, with the deal completing in November of that year. -

@thomasmca Not exactly correct. Otello was created after Opera have been sold to the Chinese group. In fact it is the new name of the part of Opera that wasn't sold to the group.
At first they tried to sell the whole company but that attempt was blocked by some anti-trusting agencies. So they decided to split Opera into two companies: one covering the browser development and the consumer business and other covering the rest and sell only the first one.

@leocg I was just quoting Wikipedia. Now you know why many universities do not allow Wikipedia as a reference on college papers!
@thegeneral China has proven that they cannot be trusted, and the company that owns Opera has a history of morally questionable activities unrelated to computer software. Need I say more?
