If you are asking if I still trust Opera, then the answer is yes.

@leocg I was just quoting Wikipedia. Now you know why many universities do not allow Wikipedia as a reference on college papers!

@thegeneral China has proven that they cannot be trusted, and the company that owns Opera has a history of morally questionable activities unrelated to computer software. Need I say more?

Opera Software is still in Norway and has to obey all applicable Norwegian privacy laws, which are quite strict. Regardless of who gets the profits from it. If that is what you're concerned about (privacy), it should be safe.

I would like to know if anyone anywhere has ever found any privacy violation by Opera?

• tracking user urls?
• tracking user searches?
• sending any private data (other than required by Sync and News services enabled by the user)
• tracking other than telemetry crash data.

It just seems so disingenuous for anyone to attack Opera with Zero evidence.

Opera has more competitors now than it did 10 years ago. There are a dozen competing browsers out there now. That is a dozen companies with proactive social media people to spread FUD.

As per the information available on the web, Opera is a Norwegian technology brand, established back in 1995 in Oslo, Norway. The brand is not Chinese and specializes in web browsers, Fintech products, YoYo Games, etc.

However, Opera browser is presently owned by a Chinese consortium but originally it is a European company.

I would love to have more insights on this, just in case, I have incorrect information.
