I just installed opera but it does not connect to the internet. MS Explorer works fine but when in opera there is no connection.

@rdg001 It seems that something in your system is preventing Opera from accessing the internet.
Check antivirus, firewall, router, those things.

@leocg having the same issue ... my AV finds nothing, opera allowed thru firewall, no malware found, I can connect using a different browser (which I don't like), I can't uninstall Opera, I dled opera again and ran the install ... nothing ... any other ideas, mate? Its happening on a couple of my laptops started yesterday (12/01).

If you go to Menu / Help / About, does it also fail to check if it's the latest version?
You can try opening the Developer Toolbar (by default by pressing Ctrl-Shift-I) and checking the network tab. What does it show when you try to access, let's say, opera.com?

@rdg001 hi.. after you've checked the things leocg asked..

              ya could check this also..

go to Control Panel - Click Internet Options - click on Connection tab - click Lan settings button make sure all boxes are unchecked - except for this one - check mark box called - Automactically detect settings - then ok it..

then open opera to see if it connects..
