<![CDATA[opera does not connect to the internet.]]>I just installed opera but it does not connect to the internet. MS Explorer works fine but when in opera there is no connection.

go to Control Panel - Click Internet Options - click on Connection tab - click Lan settings button make sure all boxes are unchecked - except for this one - check mark box called - Automactically detect settings - then ok it..

then open opera to see if it connects..

You can try opening the Developer Toolbar (by default by pressing Ctrl-Shift-I) and checking the network tab. What does it show when you try to access, let's say, opera.com?

Its happening on a couple of my laptops started yesterday (12/01).

Check antivirus, firewall, router, those things.
