[Solved]How to clean prior installation?

Using updated w10/Pro for some reason Opera Update will not work. I've tried to completely clean the previous installation but must be missing something since the installer package recognizes my name. How can I completely purge the previous install so a fresh one will take instead of hanging at about 99% on the install bar? Searching Opera shows nothing but an old Browser.lnk that i cannot delete.

In addition to deleting Opera's program files folder (after you uninstall via Settings/Apps in Windows 10), delete everything in "C:\Windows\temp" and "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\temp". There are some old autoupdate and installer folders in there that can mess with things.
Also, load up the Scheduled Tasks in Opera and delete any Opera autoupdate tasks that are left over.
That should be enough. If that doesn't work,we can clean up the registry.
Your Opera program files folder should be "C:\Program Files\Opera" or "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera" depending on whether you installed for all users or the current user (click "options" in the installer).
Also, goto https://www.opera.com/download and download the offline package and install that instead (after you clean up everything).
If you don't want to keep all your settings etc., when you install, you can choose to not keep your data. Then, after the uninstall, delete "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable" (or the whole Opera Software folder if you want). Do the same for AppData\Local\Opera Software.

@burnout426 Thank you so much but I was delighted to see that an apparent glitch caused my computer to reset itself overnight and Opera was back as normal this morning! No idea what caused this problem but I'm glad it resolved itself. Will refer to your note if it ever happens again.
