          @sgunhouse

          https://thebestvpn.com/reviews/opera-vpn/

          Specifically it states, 'Opera doesn't encrypt your information so, even if they did allow torrenting, they would not be able to keep you safe..'

          To be clear, when I visit a secure website, Opera encrypts all of my information so that, coupled with my firewall, keeps me protected?

            @sporty78 I answered your only question, which admits only yes or no as the answer.

            Regarding the other question, don't know, probably yes.

                @sporty78 That article is about Opera VPN and not the Opera browser itself. Also it seems that the author is trying to create a confusion where there shouldn't be any.

                And yes, Opera encrypts your data when you visit a secure website, like any browser.

                  @leocg

                  Thank you for clarifying the Opera VPN confusion; I read it exactly as written and got confused.

                  1a. Are you saying 'yes' that 'Settings->Privacy and Security->Site Settings->Notifications->Ask Before Sending' with the bar slid To the left side is the correct setting that turns off desktop notifications and website notifications?

                  b. If so:

                  'Settings->Content->Notifications'
                  ''Settings->Websites->Notifications->Do not allow any site to show desktop notifications'

                  I cannot find the Content tab or the Website tab-Are these old navigational steps from previous Opera versions?'

                    @sporty78 A) Yes

                    b) Don't know, maybe. But it's totally irrelevant now.

                      Thank you for your prompt response clarifying the notification settings and the VPN wording.

                        @sporty78 That's why you should always read more than one article about something before taking conclusions.

                          Content in older versions of Opera is the same as Site Settings in the current version. Don't recognize Websites, but perhaps it was in an even older version?
