I am experiencing the same issue as seen in the link here.
https://forums.opera.com/topic/23014/bookmark-bar-reappears-even-after-disabling-it-repeatedly
It claims this was resolved in Opera 50 but on ver 60 I am still seeing the same.
I disable the bookmarks bar weekly yet it always seems to re-appear

@sgunhouse said in Bookmark bar reappears even after disabling it repeatedly:
Aready you saving bookmarks to the bookmarks bar?
Sometimes I do, does that make the thing re-appear despite setting it to off?

If there's a supposed fix for this I would appreciate it, because I keep having this stupid issue. I will bookmark and then move what I bookmark to a folder and as soon as I do the bookmarks bar will show up. It's very annoying having to disable the bookmarks bar every freaking time even after I have unchecked 'show bookmarks bar'. I do not like seeing the bookmarks bar. Ever.

@nikaalexandrov Same boat, I have no idea why adding bookmarks shows the bar again when I've selected it be off. This sounds like a real bug that perhaps needs to be logged.

@protivakid it needs to be addressed as well. I try to keep everything nice and neat. Because it is more useful. The fact that opera has such a slipshod manner when it comes to this does not seem very helpful indeed. I even just tested this by creating a new bookmark folder labled 'Issues' and then placed this specific page in it and low and behold several of my bookmarked pages suddenly showed up.
I had unselected 'show bookmarks bar' yet it still does it, worse it automatically rechecks show bookmarks bar on its own against my express wishes. I've expressly insisted it not do so, but it still overrides the requests of the user i.e. me. Yet I see no fix in the works at all.

And unfortunately, it is still doing it. No update to fix it. I downloaded opera in the hopes it wouldn't become like brave or chrome or any other browser but apparently the people who have made it obviously do not seem to care.

Hi,
Yeah, I know, some of you must like the bookmarks bar, there must be a reason why Opera introduced it. Anyway I have never used it and am not planning to do so, however my browser seems to want me to. Since a little while Opera opens the bookmarks bar whenever it likes. Have not yet found the pattern. Opening a PDF was my first suspect, but it only pops up every second time, not always. Also when I click on a link in an email, or I open a new tab: bam, here it is again. I switch it off, but I never have to wait long before it returns. First I regularly switched it off but meanwhile it tends to become a little annoying. So this is my question: how can I get rid of it forever? Any ideas? Thank you ! -

I'm having what seems to be the same issue, and the bar keeps coming back without bookmarking anything or even looking at bookmarks.

In my case it's different. 5 minutes ago I received an email with a link (using Thunderbird), which I clicked and the next thing I saw was the bookmarks bar in my browser.

I have a link to the bookmarks on my sidebar... There is a keyboard shortcut to access it too.... WHY must it pop that bar I do not want at the top of my browser window up every time I add a link etc?? Is there no way to turn that one off without having to "remove" it every single time??

Download the Opera installer, launch it, click "options", set "install path" to a folder named "Opera Test" on your desktop, set "install for" to "standalone installation", uncheck "import data from default browser" and install. Test in that Opera but do not enable Opera Sync and do not install any extensions. Turn the bookmarks bar off, close Opera and start it up again.
Does it happen there too? You can do
launcher.exe "https://example.com/"
on the command line with Opera open or closed to see if an outside link somehow triggers it. -

@nikaalexandrov this problem has STILL not been fixed. Is there someone around who will actually fix the issue? I am getting tired of repeatedly having to turn off/uncheck the stupid 'show bookmarks' box repeatedly whenever I try to drag bookmarks to the correct folder all the freaking time.
