The OS is Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit, the home page is set to DDG. Every time the browser starts, it connects to the following URLs:

      duckduckgo.com
      bank.gov.ua
      www.ecb.europe.eu

This system also have IE11, Edge, Firefox and Vivaldi browsers, neither of the browsers attempt a connection to the banks in Ukraine and the EU, if and when the browser starts.

This system does not have any banking applications, nor do I do banking from this system. I don't believe that this is some kind of malware in Opera, the chances are it's just some kind of "feature" in the browser.

Does anyone know a settings, where these connections could be disabled?
      TIA...

Opera does include a currency converter, it needs to check the current exchange rates on startup to do that.

Yes, it's a premature connection to the banks, that can be disabled:

Doing so doe disable the connection to the Ukrainian, but not to the European bank. Is that a bug in the interface?

          TIA...

Maybe, I think it shouldn't disable any of the connections.
