Playing sounds in Opera on PC

I am a newbie here but have used Opera for over a year with no problems until a couple of days ago. The problem is that all sounds on all sites have stopped working (e.g. YouTube, Burningwhee1s, Facebook) and I cannot get them back. Sounds work just fine under other browsers so it must have been something I have done but do not know what.
Can anyone help me please? -

Something you did in Opera, or something in Windows? If an application is making sounds, you can adjust the volume - or just mute that application - in the Windows Sound Mixer, Mind you, I can't figure out how you'd do it by accident, but perhaps there's some shortcut I'm not aware of ... anyway, find some Youtube video or other sound source, First, look at the tab bar to see if Opera says it is making sound (the favicon is replaced by a play button with moving dots on it if sound it playing, if sound is muted in Opera the dots will not be moving.)
If Opera says it is not playing sound at all, I'm not sure what to do. If a tab is muted then hover the favicon/play button and it will change to a mute/unmute button - click it so sound is enabled in that tab, If Opera says sound is playing but you don't hear anything, right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and open Volume Mixer (or go to Windows Settings and search for Volume Mixer) and see if it shows a slider for Opera.

@sgunhouse Under Youtube, I can see the sound bars moving in the tab so I assume that sound is playing.

@sgunhouse Thank you for the hint. I opened up the mixer under windows and found a new entry of Opera. The sounds in that were muted. I have unmuted the sounds and now all OK again. I still don't know how I managed to mute the sounds. Problem solved
