Formatting of Slate front page disappears after a second

When I go to Slate.com sometimes there is a message about my adblocker but the page looks normal but as it finishes loading the format of the page disappears and it turns into a list of titles and links, and the columns, boxes, and most of the pictures have disappeared. I don't recall this happening with any other site I go to. I tried to delete all the Slate-related cookies I could think of but it made no difference. I am using Opera 40.0 on Windows 7. Thanks for any help.

Opera 40? Why such an old version? Also, any extensions? When I visit the site it looks, reasonably normal I guess - I'd generally expect some top banner or masthead which I don't see, and there are a couple of holes that might have been ads, but other than that it looks fine (using latest Opera Developer on Win 10).

@sgunhouse My mistake. I am using Opera 49.0 on Windows 7. I didn't notice my error in the original posting.
My extensions appear to be Download Chrome Extension 2.4.1, SaveFrom.net helper 7.51, Video Downloader GetThemAll 1.5.2, Windscribe 2.3.3, and Zoom 2.1.0.11.
